My he/she Cham is closing its eyes. She is 2 months old, heating is at 80 F and humidity is 50-60.
I'm using a 100 UVB exo terra and a 60 watt house bulb for the basking.
And feed her 3-4 crickets a day can anyone help me out please?! Don't want her to get sick image.jpeg image.jpeg

Did u try mist the cham with lukewarm water indirectly in the shower??is the cham active eater, please tell us more about the cham:)
What do you mean by indirectly in the shower, sorry first Cham also haha. And well I turned on his lights at about 7:30 this morning and it's eaten 3 or 4 crickets since then actually the most he's ever eaten, I'm assuming he's getting used to his new home cause he would only eat 2 crickets a day 3 if lucky. I got my Cham exactly last Friday

haha he means put your Cham on a plant in the shower, then direct the shower head towards the wall so the warm water bounces off and on to the chameleon :D. My chameleon is about a month older than yours, though he is a veiled. Mine used to eat about 3-5 crickets, but as he has gotten older his appetite has grown to sometimes up to 9 crickets. It completely depends on your Cham's preference but my guess is that his appetite will grow with age.

Haha u got it :) especially for a 2month old baby, try to lower the amount on the shower spray since they so tiny at this moment, they need extremely care not to get hurt by the water pressure:)

I personally haven't done it with my 3 month old veiled yet, should I? If so how often?

Looks like some left over shed around his eye! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! I agree, great advice!
I took a closer look at his eye and I don't see any dead skin but I'm also having trouble keeping the humidity up, when I spray his cage it goes to 65 and within 20min it falls to 50 or 40!! Do I put more plants?? And I've sprayed it about 5 times already for about 20 sec each time.the paper towels at the bottom of his cage are pretty wet if anything image.jpeg

@Orcawhale If he is well then once a month wont hurt,if he is dehydrated, then proceed with care,u will also need to collect fresh fecal within 1to 2 hours make ur chameleon specialist vet appointment prior ahead, and have them to take a look n do some test, cause it might not be just the dehydrated problem could be something else also, get test and be sure :)

Can't I just spray his cage/him with warm water,if not I'll do the shower rn and I'm also having trouble keeping the humidity up, when I spray his cage it goes to 65 and within 20min it falls to 50 or 40!! @Mau_34 also check ur uvb lighting too see if everything are working properly for ur young cham, sometimes the incorrect uvb will also causing them to close their eyes.

@Mau_34,The reason i recommend the shower is it will continue indirectly splashed the lukewarm water on ur cham,so u wont have a water drainage problems in ur cage if u mist the water for a period of time.more live plants will also increase the humidity in ur glass cage, but u need to be very careful since the air is not flow constantly like a all screen cage, which I prefer for the cham when they get older then 3month:)

It's a 100 exo terra uvb. I got it from the guy I bout the Cham from he gave me the bulb and said it still had 4 months left before I should get another one.

Number 1 u can buy a uvb tester number 2 the light usually need to replace every 6month depending on what brand its the light bulb

this is so true. Mine was doing the same.... I thought dehydration. But turned out he tested positive for pin worms. A very early case of it but I knew immediately something was off when he was laying around all day with his eyes closed. Started out with being just one eye and he would use it and then not use it. I had no idea what to make of the situation but I'm glad I took him in. He is being more himself today. Hunting around for crickets and worms ..... He's a glutton.

Also the reason I need u to remove the paper towels is,once its dirty n wet I notice you have a heat lamp on top beaming at the dirty paper towel,it will also create a smelly unfresh air inside ,and its definitely a no no in that small glass cage environment for a baby with a closing eyes:(

I have a portable cage I put in the shower. I then open the shower and have slightly warmer than lukewarm water bounce off the wall and splash on to the Chameleon (no direct stream of water). I leave them like that for 30 minutes at a time.

Please check on ur supplments too, sometimes young chameleon
suffer from vitamin A deficiency. Fat-soluble vitamin A, is stored in the egg yolk and then in the liver, and within several months after hatching, vitamin A may become depleted by the chameleon’s body.

Vitamin A is potentially toxic if overdosed, as you discovered in the case of your first chameleon. There is a vitamin A precursor, called beta-carotene, however, that is completely safe and non-toxic. Beta-carotene is converted in the body to active vitamin A and the unused portion is excreted unchanged, so it is a much safer way to deal with vitamin A deficiency (technically called hypovitaminosis A).

While I would never recommend that you attempt to diagnose and treat your chameleon without the benefit of veterinary assistance, I feel comfortable in suggesting that you can begin your chameleon on a beta-carotene supplement, as this technically cannot be overdosed:)

DON'T PUT HIM IN THE SHOWER!! He is too small for the shower. If you want to hydrate him, mist him more often and for at least 3 minutes each time with a spray bottle filled with warm water. The reason I recommend misting him for more than a few seconds is because it sometimes takes a few minutes for some chams to begin drinking. If he starts to drink while you are misting him, keep misting him for as long as he keeps drinking. It would be best to mist him while he is in his cage as it would be less stressful for him than handling him. Be sure to mop up the extra water in the bottom when you are done misting. Good luck!
