500 Crickets...

Alright, so I finally bit the bullet and decided to buy crickets in bulk. I was getting tired of constantly going to the pet store. The crickets will be here on Wednesday, and my question is pretty simple...

What size container should I get for them? I'm going to the store tomorrow to prepare for their arrival. I'll get the container and some fresh fruits and veggies. I am just not sure what the best size would be for 500. I don't have a ton of space, so the smallest I could get away with would probably be what I end up with.

Any suggestions?

20 gallons or so, make it one of those flat ones, they need more ground area. Also get a lot of egg crate. Put three little dishes with a cup or two of moist potting soil on each and after 2 days put them in a different container. five hundred more babies :)

Thank you! I'll definitely give it a shot. I'm also in the process of trying to breed hornworms, so I'll have a regular little breeding center up here haha :)

Use paper towel rolls instead off egg crate and then it's easier to get crickets out for feeding just shake the tubes into your dusting cup.

I did the math using petco cricket prices and the life span of the 2 frogs we had at the time it was just short of 15.000. I had just bought a new Nissan Sentara for 16.000. That was buy in bulk day . I drive to Compton to get all my bugs now. It's better than those petco prices. Lol

I paid 8.oo for 50 crickets at petco I now pay 32.00 for 2000 crickets at rainbow cricket co at petco 2000 would be 320.00 WOW

Great tip! I'll definitely use this tip. Thank you!

Wow! That really is quite a difference. I'm definitely glad that I finally went ahead and bought in bulk. I'm sure my bank account will be too haha.
