6500k bulb

k i will look there and how do u guys like them. and my plant in my cage the leaves are drooping down but the top ones are pretty good yet and i was just wondering if that 6500k bulb would help my plant is a UMBRELLA PLANT (Schefflera arboricola)

Yes your plants will grow with these. That's what they are for. My Ficus and Schefflera do really well with them. My Ficus are almost out of control.:) These are flourescents they do not give off heat for basking.

I use a 24 inch 8500k that youcan get at wall mart with fixture for 10 bucks and work GREAT. I use the same kind fixture for my uvb aswell.

I do use 6500k bulbs with UVB bulbs. I don't believe they help plants grow anymore than other fluorescents though. The 6500k only refers to the color temperature. You would need a bulb specifically dedicated to growing to have any benefit.

I probably should not have said that they were for growing plants. I believe the 6500k is a "daylight bulb" and would be better than the neutral, cool, etc. Bulbs. I am definately not an expert but they work very well for me.

is a 6500K grow bulb good to use as a basking light? i know there is a great deal of heat that comes of of some of them...

The bulb you are refering to gives off little to no heat. You will need a seperate light for basking depending on your chameleon. Most likely a 40-75watt bulb based on species and age.

not if it is a tub bulb. I use a 24inch 8500k a 24inch 10.0 uvb side by side and still use a seperate 60 watt basking light and only keep mine "hot" spot in the low 80's.

ok im probably thinking of a completely different type of bulb. i know its a grow bulb maybe mercerized?? idk
