Ok I'm done digging. She laid 72 eggs. That's a lot. They are all white little eggs. Exciting as heck. Now hopefully I can do everything correct. Chamile freaked out when I took the laying bin out. Like I haven't ever seen before. She has calmed down now but still she was being crazy. Fed her eight calcium dusted crickets and some banana. She even tried to eat my finger.

It's been many, many years but I seem to recall that my first clutch was somewhere near 60, and the next was down in the mid 40s? That was after a feeding adjustment.
I don't know if it makes a difference to the animals' health or not to lay "larger than nature intended" clutches. But I do know that people tend to overfeed and over supplement their chameleons in an effort to do good.

IMHO its not just cutting down the feeding and slightly lowering the temperature (which I only do to slow the metabolism slightly) that helps cut down the number of eggs but it's he timing too. I have no scientific proof...but based on experience, if you feed her well for a couple of days after the egglaying then cut back enough that she is not starving but not overfed it seems to lower the number of eggs or stop the reproduction all together. I also suspect that allthe rest of my husbandry lighting, supplements, feeding/gutloading insects, etc) plays a part initial too.

Temps should be a bit warmer for the eggs.
and 72 is alot of eggs.
my female just got done layng her 3rd clutch, second infertile one, and she laid 30 eggs.
so shes only laid 38, 30, and 30 for me.
cut food and temps, and it should help reduce it.
also, keep in mind, shell probably lay a retained clutch.

Ok thank you. I know 72 is a lot so as soon as she is back to normal I will reduce her food a little. I already lowered her temps. Just giving her lots of water and rest. She is still just as beautiful as ever and just as much attitude. Here is a pic of her she always puffs up at my phone. You can still see her belly sunk in a bit

I keep my eggs at 77 for the first 6 months, and now they are at 75 as the colder weather set in.
as long as your temps dont flucutate more than adegree or two you are fine.
give her al the food she can eat and the water for about 3-4 days, then after that reduce food to 5-6 bugs every other day.

Well I hope it works so she will be around as long as possible. Thank god she is looking ok this afternoon she was still pretty rough this morning. I would be too if I laid that many eggs. She is spoiled in her giant enclosure that my girlfriend hates cause its bigger then the dresser it sits on. Lol

Awwww, you just melted my heart with this simple statement! I love my chams too, probably to a fault and my hubby just doesn't understand! I think its so sweet to hear a guy say this!
Congrats on the successful lay - 72 eggs!! Can't wait to see how 72 little veileds change your life in 7 - 8 months!
ps: love the Christmas bin you put the eggs in....so seasonal, even in July when they hatch!!
Thanks my girl doesn't get it either cause she can't pet or hold them. I was kinda going for seasonal. I had regular tuperware in my hands till I saw those ones. I just couldn't resist. I do have a couple more questions though. The eggs are between 72-75. Is that ok? I cut down on temps and feeding. Well now she seems like she is starving bad. So I offer her fresh berries, bananas,pears, greens. She eats all of it. So she is just trying to make me feel bad right? I know its best for her. Thanks for all the input
