A couple of questions.

Hey guys. I used to keep mostly veileds years ago and I have realized after purchasing my Dwarf Jackson's that some ideas have changed over the years. I have a couple of old books but was wondering what was a good, up to date book on Chameleon care?

Also I have ordered a misting nozzle from Herpmist.com. I already have a pump that was used in an R/O system for my reef tank. I got to thinking and I have a water line going right by my cage area and could just tap directly into that and use a solenoid I already have on a timer and not use the pump at all. My water pressure is 70PSI and that should be more than enough. The only downside I can think of is that I have a well and the water temp will be in the 50's. Would that be too cold of a mist?

Thanks,
Michael

That is going to be a cold mist, try to get a heater for the water, like a undertank heater they use for snakes and geckos.

I don't think that would help in this situation. I would be coming directly out of the water pipe so there would be nowhere to heat it. I can do it with a water container and refill it if I need to. I was just looking for an easier way.:)

I know all of my chameleons like a nice warm mist...it would probably be like jumping into a freezing cold shower at that temp. the container idea might be your best bet :)

Could you direct the line into a small 3-5 gallon bucket, heat it up from there then have the misting system pull water directly from the bucket instead of from the main water line?

I did think of that but filling it up really wouldn't be too much of a problem. I could run it into a resevoir with a float switch and put an aquarium heater in it and then pump out of it. If I did do that it would use quite a bit more electricity and be much more complicated.
