hi, i am currently housing my month and a half veiled in a screen terrarium using exoterra sun glow 75W as light and heat source, ive been reading around the forum and lots of people say repti glow 5.0 should be used. does this aplly to me ass well? do i use it with my current bulb or do i need to replace it?

Go with the Reptisun 5.0 linear tube (maybe the 10.0 since you have the terrarium) and a normal blue daytime heat lamp. Check your temps to figure out what watage to use.

You do not want to be using compact lamps. They are bad news, I have personal experience.

I have never tried that brand before, but it MUST say UVB on the box. Alot of bulbs people use are Mega Ray, and Power Suns. Which combine Uvb and Heat in 1 bulb.

If you go with a light strip like the repti glow 5.0 you will also need to provide a heat source from a heat bulb or a ceramic heat emitter.

5.0 Uvb is great for chams with an aluminum screened cage, and 10.0 Uvb are recommended for more tightly knit meshes like reptariums, but i would still try to go with a mega ray if possible.

Aren't you keeping this animal outside?
Wasn't it determined on another thread that the weather where you are is perfect for a chameleon?
If I am not mistaken, then you don't need any lighting (basking or otherwise) and certainly no heat emitter or infrared light.

no brad he is inside temps are perfect when i use my exoterra bulb the one i posted earlyer neodynium day glow but i think it woud be good if i could provide more nutrients that come from the sun in an way because altough he does get some sunlight i dont really think its enough... oh and another question how good is it to use canned food? i mean the ones from zoo med or exoterra..
thx

So do you have the UVB bulb set up yet? You really need to get that in there as soon as possible, especially if you are keeping the chameleon inside.

Canned insects would be a waste of your money. Chameleons only eat live insects - they won't even bother striking for dead insects.

he already answered you. the 5.0 stands for REPTISUN 5.0 linear bulb. the Mega Ray and Powersun are Mercury Vapor Lamps. click on Link above.
