hey guys, i just got a quick question/want some input on something. My male jacksons spends most of the time outside (i live in the FLA) i have an outdoor cage for him as well as a large hibiscus plant that is not in a cage that i put him in from time to time. heres the thing...anoles like to hand out in that plant as well and even though my jackson's eats regulary and is of sound weight and health...he will eat a smaller anole any chance he gets and it's not like i feed them to him...he will activly seek them out and by the time i get there it's too late. i didnt even think he'd even get em but he does. at least three that ive seen. ima vet tech and have access to dewormer so im not too worried about parasites, i was just wondering if anyone elses cham has ever eaten an anole/other lizard?

and i realize that i may just have to not put him in hibiscus in order to get this hankering for anoles to stop, as eating them cant be the greatest thing for him. he usually gets gut loaded crickets, hornworms and butter worms occasionally. he's been pooping, eating and drinking normally ever since the first one about a month ago and he just pooped the most recent one yesterday ( he ate it 2 days ago). i dunno, just wanted some input.

yes, chams will happiley eat other lizzards such as anoles. eating one every once and while wont hurt him but its sorta sad. eating too many isnt good.

yes, my chameleon has eaten a few that I know of and probably some that I don't know about as he spends most of his time in an outdoor cage that has large square holes that the anoles can crawl through. I see them in the cage all the time. I cannot figure out for the life of me why the anoles want to be in the cage when they have the whole yard to live in. I have never seen an ill effects to my chameleon. I had a fecal done the first time he ate one but I did not after that. I guess I am rolling the dice so to speak but hopefully he is ok and did not contract any parasites.

completely irrelevant. but i had a dream that i found a baby monkey (the size of a very large dubia) and i put it in my chams cage so it could hang out (idk its a dream you know how they go) and my cham ate it. i LOLD so hard when i woke up. my first thought was (i should ask on the forums to see if its healthy) then i thought...wait.. it didn't happen. LOL

thanks guys for all of your input! i really appreciate it. the most recent one he ate was a female green that was supposed to be used in part for a breeding program to help bring the green anoles back. i only put her in there for a second as i was kind of in a rush. as soon as i came back i seen her in his mouth and i was like "damn!" lol. but as long as others have done it within moderation than i am no longer worried. thanks again yall!
