Absorb water through skin?

keep in mind that reptilian scales are not really that at all. They simply have skin with a scale-like texture - even snakes, which really DO look like they have overlapping scales. Instead, it's just a continuous skin that's in the shape of waves, he ends of these waves are thickened with keratin, givign the scale-like look. Fish scales, on the other hand, are individual scales, more like hairs or feathers than reptilian skin in it's nature.

That said, it's a single, waterproof layer. Sure, moisture soaks in and aides in shedding. That's about it. Misting is important to maintain humidity and for eye cleaning, but often drippers do the same with less mess.

I find that montanes do much much better with misters than just drippers. Misters cool down the enclosure and elevate humidity.

For veileds, hell, I've kept them for many years with much less than a dripper...

I wouldn't use a misting system on veileds unless it was already being used for something else, and I had a spare nozzle already attached to the hose. I have never seen my veileds drink from the misting system when I had them on it.
