Acclimate!

so I have my 3month old veiled for 2days now, how long did yours take to acclimate?

He regularly poop(black with a small hint of yellow on urates) ones a day but I haven't seem him drink or feed. He hates getting misted. I am lessening his automatic misting to 45sec every 6hrs due to high humidity in our country. Dripper is always on near his favorite spot.

I know it takes them time but when I arrived today she was under the uvb one eye closed. Should I be worried? Just on the edge as he is my first Cham.

it can take a while for a cham to get fully acclimated to you or its new enclosure. At least a week from my experience sometimes longer. Just try not to be all up in its business for a while just for feeding or misting. Also keep an eye on that eye closed. It could be a million things such as new lights or small particulate in there. Some can also be very shy drinkers.

I am really hoping that it's just acclimating. The only time I open his cage is the morning manual mist, feeding cup check reload if needed, and afternoon spot clean for poop and excess water. Normal humidity here stays at 68-73 so should I be cutting back on the automated mister?

Not sure if this is a factor regarding that closed eye, but I am using the zoomed t5 HO 5.0 linear and the tallest branch sits 8 inches below it. I have a spare compact 5.0 if it will help.

Since she is new to her home you probably don't want to take her out yet for a shower but you may wanna spray her for a few minutes so she gets a chance to clean the eye...

It can take some time before they start drinking and/or cleaning their eyes when misting so with 45 seconds it may just be to short for her to realize it.

No mistking in my country so zoomed reptirain is the only option and the longest is 60 sec. So 60sec every six hours due to the natural high humidity? Concerned regarding RI. I have a raindome to control the spray and makes bigger water droplets.

He closes his eye and hide when I mist him
