Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Veiled 5 and a half months
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? Never
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? Crickets, flies, super worms, grass hoppers. All gut loaded with collard greens, apples, potates for moisture, and which ever variety of vegs. I have around,
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? Rep Cal Calcium WITHOUT D3 every other day, With once a month, and RepCal Herptivite supplement once a month.

Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? I mist 4-5 times a day, and have a dripper.
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? Not tested, but looks good and white.
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? Screen DYI, 3 foot high, by 4 foot wide and 3 foot deep.
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? Reptiglo 5.0 Linear
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? Basking temp. 82 ambient 70
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? live pothos and dracena
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
Location - Where are you geographically located? OHio

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.


Poor kermit was fine this morning. I watered him and everything was great. I had to leave for the day and I came home to him on the bottom of his enclosure. He was very cold. His heat light bulb blew sometime during the day. He is moving his arms funny. It is getting better as he warms up. But it almost like he cant move them the right directions. I picked him up and put him on his plant and in the heat. Should I turn him light off llike normal leave it on. He is normally complete healthy!

I forgot to add that the air conditioning was on and it got pretty cold in here.

Okay. I am so scared for him right now. He is gripping his plant not those but seems to have problems getting them to go the right direction.

Thanks for think about me. All the chams have been doing really good, besides today. Is there anything I can do to help him. I don't think it could have gotten below 60 in here. Will he be okay or show I take him to the vet tomorrow.

Would it help to put him in a warm towel to speed things along?
Maybe leave the basking on longer than normal so be has a chance to get warm, he can move away when he does. One night on I wouldn't think would be a prob, turn it off half way through the nite? Its not like your going to get any sleep anyway

most reptiles when cold lose some coordination with mobility. i dont know how cold your room got but he should be able to take anything into the 60's easy. if you are worried you can put a ceramic on him for the night. honestly though what makes todays temps with no bulb any different than your night time temps?

The only big difference in the temps is I tun the AC off at night. I live in an old farm house and it stays pretty cold with the AC during the day. But at night when its cooler we turn the air off. So with the AC it's usually pretty cold, but at night usually 60-70.

He is now climbing up to his sleeping spot. I think I will leave him alone tonight, and keep an extra close watch tomorrow. Thanks for the help. I just tripped out when he couldn't climb.

Okay so this morning, I run to check on kermit as soon as I wake up. And he is on the towel that I put on the bottom of the cage. I picked him up and he still felt cold. I put him on a perch under the basking light, and went and found an old bird card. It not very big but is working for an temporary outside enclosure. I put a towel on the bottom and a dracenea plant inside. He is warming up and has a great grip, but is still having problems with his coordination. I put some calcium dusted crickets in a cup in there. I called my vet but they cant get him in for a checkup until Wed. They said if he gets better or worse to call back. But not sure what else I can do to help him. His limbs aren't curved like MBD. And I would hope that I would notice before. None of the other chameleons are having problems and I feed them all the same feeders. Any suggestions??

The last pic is a bit blurry but his front left leg does not look right. Is there anyway to get him to the vet before Wednesday? If not I would just make him as comfortable as possible with the towels in case he falls and make sure his temps are ok.

Can you post some side on and other pics?

I am trying to get a video to upload. I'm going to call the vet back. I think he is acting alot worse. He is not moving his arms or legs right. He keeps turning them different directions. I don't understand how he was completely fine yesterday morning. I fed all the othe chams the same food. But he looks really bad now.

I was being to get afraid of that. I don't understand is yesterday he seemed fine. He is on a regular supplement schedule. Can the vet make it better?

Its definitely MBD. If you can't get it to the vet's until Wednesday I would start it on some liquid calcium gluconate or calcium sandoz now and make sure it gets UVB. (The UVB should not pass through glass or plastic, BTW.) Be careful with the liquid calcium...its syrupy and harder for them to swallow. Ease it in a bit at a time so that it isn't aspirated. Good luck with him!

He does get UVB and calcium. I will go get some liquid calicium. His Uvb just goes thru screen. Right now I have him outside for natural light. I don't know how. I read on here took all the precautions, Supplements and lighting. I also have another veiled from the same hatch. He is fine, but should I start giving him the Calcium without D3 everyday instead of every other. I have 2 panthers too. Now I'm worried about all of them. They all have linear UVB bilbs and get supplements.
