Adult or baby?

Well the first 3 months of a chameleons life are usually the hardest to care for since they are very fragile at this stage in life. Most breeders sell their chameleons at 3 to 3.5 months because of this. Some montane species such as Jackson’s, breeders hold onto them up to 5-6 months old I’ve read. These are still considered babies but they are starting to enter juvenile stage in life.

Regards to the question though is I really don’t think it matters what age you get them. The main thing is to make sure your research/husbandry is done for the correct species your getting. Their Eating schedules do change from babies to adults. The basking temperatures also change with age. Again cage size also can be a factor with age but plenty of people have put a 3 month old chameleon in a mainstream 24x24x48 cage that can house it all the way into adulthood. This just depends on what route you want to take. These are things you will want to look into depending on the age of your chameleon.
