Advice on roaches!!

I have a 4 month old Panther chameleon and I want to introduce roaches to his diet. I live in California so Dubias are not legally shipped here. So my question is, what is the next best roach?
I've heard things like, don't get roaches they can infest and escape from anywhere!
I know that's why most people like the dubias, they can't climb up a solid wall or jump.
So keeping all that in mind does anyone have any recommendations? I don't want to get resilient roaches that will cause me problems.

Orange heads, discoids, red runners. Although some people say red runners could infest your house. There are a lot more roaches out there. But I feel that besides dubias those are the next more readily available.
Green banana are another option but those are very small so it's more like a treat, but chams do love the green color

GBR's if they get loose, theyed likely die in a few days. Need heat and humidity. Orange heafs are good too. Stay away from lobsters, ive heard horror stories about them infesting. The jury is out on red runners. I just had a mass escape die to a box falling off a shelf and crushing in the screen top. Well see what happens with them. Some say they will infest, others say no.

Just curious, who told you Dubias are illegal in CA? I'm near Sacramento and have ordered plenty online and there are even a few shops near me that keep them in stock as feeders...

That's interesting. Joshes frogs says they can't ship to California because California does not allow it.

According to this link dubias do not require a permit.

I currently raise orange heads and dubias. Orange heads move more but get bigger. Probably not as productive. I really like lobsters but lost my colony in a fire and am afraid to get them since some say they can infest. As many as i dropped, I d can't believe they wouldn't have infested if they could.

Lobsters don’t infest unless you have a very warm, humid location and those aren’t typical household conditions for most people. An air conditioned house in FL isn’t going to support lobster roaches. I consider investing having them reproducing and being found in multiple areas of the home. I find a rare dubia or orange head that’s emaciated and obviously close to death, the have survived for a few weeks in the but, they were aren’t on my other floors or running around when I lift boxes or objects in the floor.

I take the infestation reports with a grain of salt. I even saw where one person said they saw them flying around outside after they escaped their enclosure. I find it hard to believe and if for some reason, I need lobsters, I will use them again but for now my YOUNG panthers love dubias. As they get older that may change and that's why I've started Orange heads and will start green bananas eventually.
