Hi Everyone!
New chameleon owner, have a 5mo. old Jackson who is doing extremely well.
Being new to chameleon ( but not reptile ) ownership, homeboy is currently living in an ExoTerra 18x18x24 glass enclosure, which requires a lot of diligence on my part to maintain an optimal environment. He has a great life here, and he is my little zen garden. Anytime i get stressed, I just look at that little prehistoric dude and all is well in the world.
Here is my dilemma.
I need to leave on business for 5 days. Sending our puppy to my sisters is easy, but having someone over to mist and feed Mr. Lahey for 5 days is proving challenging.
I can get someone over once a day to feed him, but the environmental misting required due to the sub-optimal enclosure and system needs to happen multiple times a day, with care.
Given the ExoTerrra glass setup I have, what would this community say is the best way to set up an automated misting system? I have a reptirain but that thing is a joke and leaks everywhere. Worthless and messy. Maybe i just got a lemon...
Im down to DIY and soon will have a much better setup. Mr.Lahey is my first of hopefully many chameleons, and I'd love to hear this communities thoughts on how I can keep him hydrated and happy if I can only have someone come over once a day, or once every other day.
Down for DIY misting solutions but also willing to purchase a proper commercial mister approved by you fine people. He dose have a glass enclosure with a mesh top so I'm sure you can understand my concerns here regarding how to integrate it into his setup.
I've seen some products and videos online but am left undecided. Figure going to directly to the pros is my best bet.
Thank you all in advance for your advice. This is a great community, Im very new, but happy to be a part of it.
Best,
J
Edit: Added picture of current enclosure. 3 live potted plants ( 2 dracaena variants and a hibiscus with lots of bend a branches. ) This is all in his 18x18x24 exoterra enclosure with lamp that has a UVB5 and a basking light on either side. Also gammer edit
