Advise for moving with a Cham?

I'm moving in about a month, and could use some advise on the least stressful way to get Perry to our new apartment. It's not going to be a far move, only about half an hour away, so it shouldn't be too bad. The outside temps have been pretty cool lately, usually in the 30(F)'s. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! :)

When I got my Jackson's chameleon in Dallas at a repticon and we had a long drive back and I just put a towel over him and he slept the whole way home:D and for heat does your car have a heater?

what id do is but him in a cardboard box with a towel on the bottom and a stick/perch so he can get up on. then close the box and put a towel over it. i didnt put on holes in my box because cardboard boxes arnt air tight.

Hi! It is very cold here as well (Ontario, Canada). I had to move mine and my boyfriends chameleons for a month to another location because of the holidays. There was no way around it, I would have rather not had to. They did very well, these are what I transported them in, there was good air flow into the clean cricket keepers through the bag, they all fell asleep on the way home. Each had a cloth bottom with a perch, the smaller two just grabbed onto the edge of the cloth and slept there. Hope this helps!

-- There was also cloth separating the carriers to avoid them seeing eachother.

This is pretty close to what I did while in the car. But I drove with all my chams from southern California to Montana. That was 3 nights in motels. When we were in the motels, the chams came out and into their small cages for heat, light and food. Worked like a charm. I will admit the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas was not thrilled when hubby and I walked through the lobby carrying 9 chameleons, but even though I don't gamble i was in their high rollers club (long story) so they let me do it. I think it was nine, been over 5 years so I am not sure.

I think I'll probably go the cardboard method, load Perry's cage in the back of the moving truck and keep Perry in the cab with me to keep him warm.

Perfect, you will have a happy boy even if you move him. But don't be surprised if he takes a couple days to settle in. Even with the cage the same the location of the cage will have changed so don't worry, you have this handled.

well im a bit of a pet care nut so when i use this method, which i also use for parrots, when necesary. only twice so far.

Just keep him in the cage. keep it upright, put it in the front seat. i just did this few weeks ago 3 1/2 hours from so cal to nor cal. my car blew up on the way home (literally) and it ended up being a 6 hour drive and getting towed. 1/2 an hour isnt very long. not a big deal i wouldnt worry about it. do it at night time if your cham is a stresser, so hell sleep on the drive
