Again? :(

After purchasing my second chameleon, I would have though everything would be okay....but today i noticed his urinate was orangey and no poop, just a bunch of clear liquidly substance. He also doesn't really seem too interested in food at all. He constantly moves around the cage, and rarely stays in on place for more than a couple minutes. he's a 2 month old veiled chameleon, and I really don't want anything bad to happen to him. Any suggestions?-is this a vet worthy problem, or a possible dehydration? If he drank water that had his poop in it, or a cricket, what kind of symptoms would he most likely experience? Please help!!! :(

thankyou, Eric

How would it drink water with poop in it Eric? I beleive you were advised about watering chameleons via misting/dripper during your last saga. The dead crickets not quite as bad, unless they were there were for ages. Poop will lead to bacterial infections.
Its young, it moves about, nothing unusual.
It needs better hydration if its urates are orange. more misting and maybe a dripper aswell.
You know the drill now Eric, lets have the full monty mate, 'how to ask for help'.
:)

Did you disinfect the cage before putting this one in it?
Do you have a substrate? Did it have a substrate before you bought it?

no no no, i don't have a dish for drinking...only a dripper and misting. The dish is for catching the water from the dripper, so the paper towels at the bottom don't get drenched and cause bacteria to grow..once the dripper is done dripping i usually empty it right away. But what worries me is that I hydrate him already quite frequently (3-4 times per day misting), so I feel like the orange urinate might be something else. The cage was sanitized before he ever went in with white vinegar, and the fake vines with a dilute bleach solution (1:10).

Here is my info once again:

Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - male veiled, 2 months old, have had him for 2 weeks
* Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? haven't.
* Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? four-five 3-week old crickets per day, usually thrown in throughout the day...but for the last couple days he hasn't seemed too interested in them. They are gut loaded 24 hours before, with potato apples oranges oats parsley and dried egg yolk.
* Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? Repashy Superfoods T-rex Chameleon Calcium plus 5 days per week.
* Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? misting 3-4 times per day, and drip once a day.
* Fecal Description - no poop, just orange urine and clear runny mucus
Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? never has been. he is a captive bred.
* History - Lived in a cage with substrate.

Cage Info:

* Cage Type - glass 18x18x24 inches and screen top.
* Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? 13W Exo*Terra UVB coil light bulb and one 75W Zoo Med Infrared heat bulb. Infrared on 24/7, UVB on for 12 hours per day* Temperature - 65 in ambient, 72-75 in mid region, 80 in basking region.
* Humidity - 50-70%
* Plants - fake vines for now.
* Placement - very low traffic area, in my room, on a 4 foot table.
* Location - calgary alberta canada.....very dry climate.

Eric, You could use a drip catching tub something like tupperware maybe, with a lid. Cut out most of the lid, leaving just an inch or so of rim all round, and cover the tub with flyscreen and use the lid to keep iti n place. That way the cham can't drink it, fall in it, poop in it, nor crickets drown in it.

no poop, just orange urine and clear runny mucus

How long has it been like that? How many poops has he done in two weeks? was this the first one like that? Given your unfortunate experience with the last lizard, If your really concerned, by all means, collect the poop (whatever comes out) and have a vet examin it anyway. Despite being CB, parasitic organisms can be present, some are ingested via live food and water even.
If only for peace of mind, it's probably worth whatever is charged.
At this point my only suggestions apart from that, would be ensure the crickets (and other feeders, variety is good) are gutloaded with moisture containing goodies, like fresh fruit and dark leafy greens. This moisture content is passed along to the lizard.
If the dripper dosent have tubing, consider rigging some to run into the cage. Not only will this be more convenient for the lizard, (larger volume of water directly) it will be more convenient to you, since you can better aim/catch the drips. :)
I wish you best with your new lizard.

Did you get this cham from the same source? The same clutch? Same previous care? Maybe you are inheriting health problems that were present before you got him again.

sleeping in the daytime after trip to the doctors.

I took him to the vet today, and they gave him a de-wormer and told me to feed him baby food with a syringe. all hes doing is sleeping now though, when this morning, he was moving about the cage. Could this be due to all the stress that he has just had from the vet giving him a shot, me having to put a syringe in his mouth, and having been transported back and forth?

You said the chameleon isn't pooping...are you using a substrate? Did the person you got him from use a substrate? Do you have real or artificial plants in the cage?

he's pooping, but its orange and mucous like. The pet store did have substrate yes, and I'm using paper towels as a substrate.
