At this point I'm most likely going to take Alfred in, he's due for a fecal anyway, but I'd like some educated opinions on what may be wrong, or not
  • Your Chameleon - 2 year old male veiled Cham, in my care since he was about 3 months old
  • Handling - Never, unless I have to move him out of his cage for any reason because he's possibly the offspring of Satan,
  • Feeding - Staple feeders are crickets, super worms, horn worms, he occasionally gets silkworms, butter worms, black soldier fly larvae,(summer only) walking sticks, leaf insects, hornworm moths, (rare) silkworm moths. Gut loaded with fresh greens, carrots, bell peppers, mango, apple, papaya, blueberries, etc, dry guyloads are cricket crack, Arcadia earth pro, Dino fuel, repashy super load, bug burger (alternate)
  • Supplements - plain calcium without d3 almost every feeding, with d3 2x a month. Arcadia mineral/calcium powder a couple times(new) reptivite 2xweek also alternate with herptivite 2x a week
  • Watering - mistking set up. First time is set for 6 minutes, the. 2 then 1 minute
  • Fecal Description - Poop does sometimes have some orange to it sometimes, i almost never see him drink anymore, very rare now, but he sometimes has perfect poop.
  • History - very picky eater, last time a member pointed out he might have some Gular edema. I've had blood work, fecals, deworming, eye drops for some bulging, under his eyes also the vet took a seal to examine it (hasn't got worst or better)

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - 2 xl lllreptile screen cage mates together
  • Lighting - arcadia quad fixture with 12% uvb, halogen bulb for heat
  • Temperature- 89-84 winter 94-90 f in the summer
  • Humidity - from 99-34% when in it completely dried out over night
  • Plants - 2 pothos
  • Placement - living room
  • Location - I live just outside of Chicago U.S

Current Problem - well Alfred seems to always be hiding behind a plant, he does basks sometimes which really has me worried, walks around maybe a little if at all and goes back to his hiding spot and just sits there, maybe when I'm not home he walks around more, I'm not sure, he eats a couple times a week, not as much. I have caught him multiple times eating his pothos and dirt, as much as I try to stop him. He just ate a bunch of butter worms, he doesn't have his eyes closed and seems alert, is this normal? He used to constantly roam his cage. Now he just hides under a leaf?... I'm pretty sure I have to take him in but I would like some opinions

Well a natural thing for chameleons is to hid. It makes them feel safe that's why u need to make sure you have lots of foliage in the cage. If you wouldn't mind maybe post a picture of your cage. Also did u say that u have 2 chameleons in the same cage? That isn't really the best thing 1 chameleon per cage unless u are breeding. I do agree that you should bring your vet a fecal just to make sure no bacteria or parasites are in him. How many crx does it eat and what is your feeding schedual (everyday, every other day) as a two year old chameleon (an adult) he should be eating every other day.

No there's just one cham in a double cage, he eats random amounts from 3-4 crickets or super worms, he just ate 5 large butter worms, he eats as he please maybe 2-3 times a week

Thanks for your interest hopefully you could help

A 2 year old Alfred would like to have some more vegetables green since an older veiled will be more appreciated to have his vegetables rather than the live feeders and their appetite will definitely slow down compare with a younger veiled .
Maybe try rearrange that hiding favorite plant of his,so he cant choose to stay in that hiding spot.....hopefully everything is going to be ok with ur Alfred.
