Alleged male red bar ambilobe...

Hi, got my new Panther a few days ago. All going well, really good eater.
Have a female reserved which will be ready in a few weeks (also red bar).
Started to have a few wobbles about whether this one was definitely a male although I think I can see the bulge and have read the females rostral bump would be less obvious. Also showing a few bits of colour at times that seem more male.
Anyway, just wanted to see if everyone agrees he’s a boy!
Got 1 good side-on photo which he looks really skinny in (he looks much fatter most of the time, just seemed to squash himself flat for this one), and a few other general ones.
Thanks

I have the same issue with this nosy faly. Sold as a male from a very reputable reptile specialist 🤦🏽‍♂️ But the more I look the more I start to think could it be female due to lightening of the colours etc through parts of the day

Looks like a male to me (but obviously I’m not an expert otherwise I wouldn’t be asking about mine!). I don’t think having light colours sometimes at that age is much of an indicator.

I know that’s what makes it so awkward at times, also trying to get a straight shot of mine is a no go, doesn’t keep still or sits at angles you can’t see him Fully

My 1st picture is pretty much that, and I think I see the hemipenis bulge but would like to see if others agree.
Your first picture is taken at an angle looking more down at the cham. You want one straight on from the side. So we can see the bottom of the tail to id a bulge. With young panthers we are not looking at the body... we are looking at the tail bulge or lack of to tell gender.
So that is why I said you need a better picture. This is how people that are experienced will be able to help you.

Otherwise we are going by body and colors... Which is extremely unreliable at this age.

I don’t know much about panthers sadly but I’m learning. I know that they start to get their colors each shed they have so it’s only a sit and wait kinda thing. Colors are unreliable at this age so the picture of him as instructed will be your best bet :)

OK, here are some better side-on pictures. Still think I can see a bulge, hope it’s not wishful thinking!
