Almost finished what ya think

Oh and by the way @JamesB88 - for saying that you are new to this hobby, your cage looks really good my friend. (y) Make sure you hookup some type of drainage for that cage once you install the MistKing though, as they can produce quite a bit of water. Cheers!

Thanks you his last cage was a bit crowded with plants at the bottom I wanted to open it up more and have all live plants as in my other cage it has some fake. And yeah I've already got the drainage figured out I just drilled holes in the bottom tray that drain through into a storage bin. I actually ordered a drained catcher from LLLReptile that should help any over misting. Thanks for the info and help it's greatly appreciated. Although I'm new to chameleons I've had many many reptiles my whole life so far my Cham is my fav just a little more tending to but I enjoy it. Thanks again.

So I used LED "moonlighting" for awhile when I started. The whole plant growth thing is BS. I'm not completely opposed to the lights at night, (mine auto dimmed to near non-existent), chameleons have to deal with moonlight naturally. I too noticed my chameleon would simply bury itself in the foliage. My habitat was pretty mature before I placed an animal though. Long story short, I ended up replacing my really nice auto-dimming LED strip for one of Todd's quad tropic blaze t5's. As much as I hate fluorescent lighting, this fixture has really exploded my plant growth, and it provides a good deal of heat! I have not noticed any behavioral changes since ditching the moonlight, but that's not to say it was ever a good thing. BTW, your setup looks good. Once those plants get established, it will be great.
Hey where did you purchase the todds quad fixture at I'd like to look into it and possibly replace mine.

I agree with what @Peachypink and @trickedoutbiker;one thing I like to add is
plant behavior is tightly controlled by the sun. During the day, plants soak up sunlight during photosynthesis, the process they use to get energy. But when the sun goes down, plants’ opportunity to eat disappears and other physiological processes take over, including energy metabolism and growth.
Therefore during the night ,it will be better for the darkness for the chameleon n plant to rest on their cycle.

It leads to stress within the chameleon most of all, and stress is the #1 leading cause of death in chameleons because it can lead to so many other imbalances for the cham. For example, it can make them not want to eat or drink, it can make them act lethargic all day, or it can make them begin sleeping during the day, which are all things that can lead to terrible outcomes if not promptly corrected.

Same quad fixture I have. (y) In it, I use two Zoo Med T5 High Output Ultra Sun Super Daylight 6500k bulbs, one Arcadia Plant Pro bulb to balance the wavelengths and also promote flowering, and one Reptisun T5 High Output UVB 10.0 bulb. I also have an Arcadia Jungle Dawn Mega Spot Grow Light on my cage as well to push some light all the way to the bottom of my cage for a couple of plants that are down there, as my cage is pretty heavily planted. I've been meaning to do my enclosure thread for quite a few months now since I got done with the new cage in June, I just haven't had a whole lot of time between work and school. I have 18 days off for Christmas coming up here though and I will surely get it done then. When I think about it, I guess waiting so long was really a good thing because it allowed the new plants to fill out a bit more. Keep an eye out here in a couple weeks for the thread! :)
Where did u buy your quad light fixture? I'm interested

The main thing is that we as keepers need to be just as aware of this things that happen internally with our chams as we are the outwards signs. Just because they are not acting different(yet) doesn't mean it's not causing an issue. Just like having improper supplementing and/or UVB that has expired will cause MBD....these things don't show right away and before anything visible shows that alerts us to something wrong there has already been months of things happening internally. We know that there have been studies that show the effectiveness of UVB and how it diminished through time and that is why we need to replace them every 6 months or so. 1 year for an arcadia bulb. We can't see that it's not putting out UVB, it looks fine and is still putting off light, but a solar meter can tell you.

@JamesB88, I'm home now so I will have to dig to find some of the articles that I have read on the night lighting.

Thank you any info I can soak up I will do thank you for the help and those articles would be great as knowledge is key with these animals!

I use the linear Plant Pro bulb from there that is in my quad and my Jungle Dawn Mega Spot Light is also from there. The other linear bulbs of mine are from Zoo Med and my basking bulbs are just regular household incandescent bulbs.
Awesome I appreciate all the help, I'm most likely going to get a new fixture as soon as this ones uvb bulb needs replacing that way I don't feel so bad about just throwing it out lol. Thanks again

Your fixture is actually quite a decent one as long as you have a good UVB bulb in it at all times. For the $100 it costs, I wouldn't just throw it out.

http://zoomed.com/db/products/Entry...7czoxOiIwIjtzOjg6IlNlYXJjaF95IjtzOjE6IjAiO30=

It's got 6500k LEDs in it which are the equivalent of 6500k daylight linear bulbs. It's got red LEDs to even out the spectrum and stimulate plant growth which are basically the same thing as what the pinkish hue Plant Pro bulbs from Arcadia do that me and many others use. It's also got blue LEDs so you can set a lunar effect for a bit if you want, just as the Arcadia quad has blue LEDs for the same reason. So really, for your current fixture, the only thing you gotta worry about is changing the single UVB as needed every 6 months or so. Your LEDs will last for 20,000 hours or so, which is SIGNIFICANTLY longer than any linear bulb will last when using a quad fixture with 4 linear bulbs. Switching to a quad, you have to buy an extra 3 linear bulbs and change them out about once a year (the UVB you change once every 6 months though). You already have white daylight and red plant growth LEDs built into your fixture that will last about 4 years or so when used for 12 hours a day.....

Really, you'd save lots of money in bulbs by keeping your current fixture and using it till the lifespan on the LEDs die out. Throwing it out would be a waste of a good fixture in my opinion, but it's not my money, so perfectly fine for you to switch if you want.

Thanks I planned on seeing how it did for a while seeing as I just got it, the uvb I have is a reptisun 5.0 but I also have the 10.0 still in the box, would you recommend keeping the 5.0 in or should I swap it for my 10, or just go with a totally different bulb?

I would recommend keeping the 5.0. A 10 is for desert lizards or a heavily planted enclosure. And by heavily, I mean rain Forrest looking.

Also, take a look at the link I posted in your other thread about UVB. That is from Todd at Light Your Repties. It's a great explaination of UVB strength and how it's distributed through the enclosure.

I use a 10.0 but that is because there are lots of plants in my setup, and therefore, lots of places to hide. For yours, a 5.0 would do just fine. Once your plants grow out lots more then it would be perfectly fine to switch to the 10.0
