Alright, so Pygmy eggs..

So I have some more pygmy eggs, and hopefully this time these actualy hatch! I had a clutch of 4, and one seemed to deflate and start to mold over. I decided to disect that egg to find a fully formed pygmy the size of an eraser. Transparent skin, but all limbs, eyes, mouth, tounge developed!

Now, my question is. I have 2 eggs that are very large, and look to be in similar shape. One egg is now also starting to deflate, and seems like it MAY be the next to mold over.

How far along do you think these eggs are? I found them in my viv about a month ago and took them out when I did. No idea how long they have been in there haha.

I see like, tan blotches on the eggs and the eggs are a bright white color. Any ideas apon if this deflating means they are going to hatch soon? or?

Thanks!

The eggs will start to dent and "sweat" once the baby is trying to hatch out, I believe the hatch time for pygmys is about 2 months?!

they will usually rot out within a week or so..it'll mold over and shrivel up. How long have the eggs been incubating for?

Here's what happened to the 4th egg........

The one to the right looks like its not fertile..it's shrivling up. The other two are nice a round, the brown stuff is probably from your substrate staining the outside of the egg, so those should have nice healthy babies in there. :)

Thats so weird with the 4th baby?! what happened did that egg shrivel up to? and you opened it up and the baby was in there not alive?

also..dont throw away the shriveled up egg...since you dont know how long the eggs were in the cage for, it could be ready to hatch!? just in case..they hatch in 2 months..so you can just wait and see..

It's been a while now, so that's true. The baby wasnt alive. I disected it with a brand new razor blade, and a pair of old plastic tweezers.

Insanely small stuff right there.

The other two eggs look good, not sure about the other one?! But like I said they hatch out in about 2 months...so you'll just have to wait and see..hopefully they will hatch out soon! I know how you feel I have 17 Carpet Cham eggs..it's been about 2 weeks...there all still nice and round! So I think there all fertal they wont hatch untill july or august! "FOREVER LONG"

NickBoudin...can you describe what the egg that had that baby in was like and how things progressed from looking like the two eggs on the left please? How long after the egg started to deflate did you cut it open? At the point where you cut it open was it still soft and pliable or stiff and hard?

It was almost entirely shrivled to nothing. The other 3 eggs were much much larger, almost double in side then this one was. It was stiff on the outside when I cut it, and goo on the inside, once I got through the goo, I used tweezers to remove the small chameleon, as shown.

Once the mold took over for a few days, I knew it was safe to say it was a goner.
