Am i Feeding him enough?

I have a 3 year old veiled chameleon(Rambo). I feed him 20 crickets every other day, the occassional superworms in between, a frozen thawed pinky mouse once every couple weeks and he munches on the ficus plant in the enclosure. He eats the food immediately and im sure he'd eat more if I put more in there. Should i be feeding til he stops eating? Can i overfeed him??

I have had him only for a couple months so still trying to figure out the best way to feed him.

Thanks

Good luck and welcome!

hi, sounds like your doing a good job. One thing you need to cut back on is the pinky frequency. You should offer them up maybe two maybe three times a year.

Older chams should be regulated a little more than juveniles. Veileds are naturally lanky and stringy animals. I have a cow veiled and a lanky veiled... I worry about my thinner one, but he just stops eating when he is full. My 'cow' veiled will eat and eat and eat. I have to monitor his food intake.

Check out Brad Ramsey's site for feeding and supplement regiment.

If you could post some pics and maybe tell us his weight we can help you determine if you are over feeding. Maybe even post some pics of his cage and give us some specs on lighting and temps and misting frequency.

thanks

Im worried more about underfeeding than anything else. I have no idea his weight but.

3x3x3 black mesh enclosure
UV light and heat lamp
i rarely mist the enclosure, i try misting him sometimes but he hates the spray.
temp- 75 during day, 60-65 at night..cool?
water drip cup on top, helps keep humidity level up..
good sized ficus plant helps with humidity as well.

sounds like i should be misting more though.
