Ambilobe chameleons boy or girl

I got this baby in April and was born late February. I am trying to figure out is it a boy or girl, because recently I have been seeing lots more color every time I take the chameleon out and a lot more so when out in the sun. However, turns more or a tan color when in cage??????

I posted more pics below in #9

If you can get a profile pic with the tail straight out it would be more conclusive but my first impression is female. You should see a hemipenal bulge in the tail before the vent if it were a male. Color is too tricky to go by since some males take longer to color up and some females display some colors that might indicate male IMHO

That isn't the bump you're looking for, that's her vent (cloaca) If she were a male she'd have a bigger bump behind that one you're seeing, which would be where he'd store his hemipenes.

She really is a very pretty girl.

Since she a girl why is she showing lots of color when out of cage and when in sun??? I was told girls where not suppose to be color they are more tan/beige, peach/orange, not suppose to show blue spots all over???? I am sooo confused

First pic is female, 2nd pic is male. These 2 are roughly the same size and age. Look closely at the little bump that comes before the vent on the male in the 2nd pic. That is the hemipenal bulge that you look for in a male. This is usually present right out of the egg but sometimes it takes a good profile picture so you can have a closer look to be certain. Hope this helps.

Females will display some pretty nice color sometimes. If it makes you feel better, in my experience, the colorful females produce the best offspring depending on what you choose for their mate of course. Usually when a female is a juvenile she will display more color than when they are adults until they go receptive then you can have some pretty amazing color changes. I have posted a couple of my more colorful females here and so have several others. Do a search for some of those threads. You will be surprised and how colorful some of them can be.
