I had my first hatchling of 30 eggs this morning. He/she is very active. This is my first ever clutch so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a small mesh cage lined with paper towels. I bought fruit flies and pinhead crickets. The cages has low vines and a uva/uvb bulb and a 25 watt heat lamp. Again comment or concerns are greatly appreciated

I think you will find that using plastic bins for the first month or 6 weeks is a better option than the screen cage. Your gonna lose all your feeders thru the screen. A pinhead crick & a ff can fit thru screen. ;)

Good luck.....

In my exp they usually start eatting within a day or so of hatching. Between 24-48 hrs depending on the time of day they hatch.

When using ff's put a piece of fruit in a small bottle cap in the cage and the flies will usually stay close to that fruit. It keeps them in the cage better than just dumping them in with nothing in there to eat. ;)
