Ambilobe Panther Chameleon gender

Im sure that girl was clearly a lady 2 months ago. I could tell by her face in the first few pics before even seeing the tail base. Im not an expert by any means. Ive only sexed maybe 50 to 60 panthers but after I let the first 10 grow to 3 months and watching them and there little phases it became apparent. Plus the bulge. Even if its not right in your face:rolleyes: its still there when they come out fo the shell. If I can do it Im sure most others can sex accuratly.

We all know though. If you arent positive about the sex. DONT SELL IT!

That's it! lol.. I am buying my next chameleon from you! ahahahahaha!

I had five amilobe males and found a nice little female amilobe at LLLreptile. I could of months later I found I was the proud owner of an ambanja male. I wouldn't make that mistake now but then I belived them and they believed it also.:D

Im not good at sexing babies. I cant tell until they're at least two months, preferably three months old. How you can distiguish a difference before then is beyond me. :) Not saying you cant, as I very much know people can. Just not me! Luckily I never sold any before they were both three months old AND I was SURE of the gender.

I guess the biggest question I have is how old was she when you bought her. As others have said, they are sometimes difficult to determine sex when they are babies.

We got *him* when he was three months, at least that's what the guy said. I recently talked to him and he is willing to give me a discount on a male or a full refund or a trade. I'm thinking about taking the discount on the male and look into breeding.
Thanks everyone for your input :)

Its not always easy to tell ..

Some males have a very obvious package early on, and others take time. Speaking for myself, I can be 80% correct sexing them tiny, which is also to say I can be 20% wrong. That is not a safe ratio IMMHO.

It lends itself to the argument that it is better to commit only once the gender is obvious, which will also better lend an interpretation as to true colors at that size, as sex is not the only hoodwink going on out there.

That's for homo sapiens, now as to chameleons .... ;)

i am curios as well i just found out my new cham was a ambilobe and looks very similar to that one

coloration looks like and most likely a boy.
But, no definitive answer since you did not give a picture of his hemipenis bulge at the tail.

BTW, you are taking the zoomed picture of his "vent" not his bulge.
His bulge is a long bump behind the hole that he use to defecate.
But, looking at it, i think it is definitely a male.
even when the pic of his bulge is cut by the branch, the bulge is quite large and obvious.

that is the picture that shows the bulge better before it gets blocked by the leaves. :D
But, yes.. it is a he.
