Ambilobe Panther Chameleon sex?

Hello. I was hoping I could get a second opinion on these pics.

Yesterday I purchased a 3- 4 month old Panther Chameleon that the Dealer was 90% sure was a male.

I had a Yemen for a few years who died Egg Bound and my vet said males are easier. Having read up on Panther Chameleons I wanted a male.

Bringing it home and reading about sexing I think she is a female and I also am wondering if the reputable dealer knew this and said to me it is male (knowing I wanted male, as they said it is impossible to tell for sure sex at this age. They decided male based on blue colouring showing by its head in the shop.

I have read about looking at the base of the tale and to me I see no bulge and it looks like there is a tapering at the base. Is this bit of internet research accurate and can I get opinions on sex and age? Also they said if it was female, Panther females are easier than Yemen females to care for.... Isnthat true..Thoughts?

Sorry but your reputable breeder was not being honest with you as you have a female. It is far from impossible to tell the age at 3-4 months old. As for care, they are virtually the same so once again our breeder is just telling you what to wanted to hear.

I wondered why 30 mins of research allowed me to do what an experienced shop couldn't.

How certain are you?

If it is female I am torn whether to persist with her or speak to the shop to call them on the whole" we can't tell yet" line.

It is a lovely cham. But not sure if I want to go through egg laying again.
I also wanted the male for the brighter colours.

100% female, no question.

This "reputable" shop can't really be reputable if they couldn't tell that was a female.

I'm sure she is a female.

Don't let your past experiences scare you away from future ones. She looks like a beautiful panther and along the same lines as sexing them, 30 minutes of research will teach you all you need to know about females and egg laying and it will prevent you from having the same past experience.
