Amount to feed?

I will soon be recieving a Red bar ambilobe born Dec 09. At this age, I was thinking 4 crickets, 2 silkworms, and 1 butter or hornworm a day (butter and horn alternating daily). They will be gutloaded and crickets will be between 1/4 - 1/2in. Is this an appropriate diet, or should I use more of one of the bugs? ANY suggestions are greatly appreciated because this is my first cham and I want to have things ready for him!

You didn't say how old he is, but if he's younger than about 8 months (someone can correct me on the age), you can feed him all he wants to eat. He's in his growing phase and needs to have the intake to keep up with growth.

He hatched in Dec so between 4 and 5 months. So should should I feed more crickets or silkworms?

For a 4 month old chameleon I am fairly generous with food. As long as the prey items are sized correctly, not to big OR to small, 1/4" cricket is too small, then feeding several a day is ok. The more kinds of feeders you can offer his the better. With the number of feeders you listed, you will need to get a small number of each so that he can consume them before they out grow him. Your chameleon will grow a lot slower that a horn worm (way fast), or a cricket (just sort of fast). Do you know the correct supplement schedule for him?

The beauty of this forum is you may get lots of opinions, then you get to decide which fit your needs. Doing research on prior threads on amounts to feed will offer lots of insight.

What is the length of time I can keep the horn/butterworms for before they will outgrow my cham? What about silkworms? I have read up on them but I figure I'd ask people with experience and not just fish through websites. The supplement schedule I was reccomended is :
Herptivite- mon, thurs
Rep-Cal - tuesday, friday
Miner-all - wednesday, saturday

if your worms are getting to big you can put them in the fridge and they will not really grow much. At first you may find it easier to buy your feeders a week or two at a time if it is convenient for you that is. As far as your supplement schedule, i have read lots of forums on here that multivitamins should only be given once or twice a month. Calcium with d3 should be given twice a month and calcium without d3 every second feeding. Im definately no pro but thats pretty much my schedule that i got off here.
