An idea for water gel

I am not talking about gelatin, I am referring to products like "Cricket Quencher" which are made of Polyacrylamide copolymer, a man made product.
What I said earlier:

So why would the gelatin not be good to feed roaches? I see that the agar would be fine, but why not the gelatin? What would be problematic about it.

Seems gelatin would be a good quencher. As it is natural and contains a good amount of protein. It is fda approved and made for human consumption.
Although i am soon to try this agar agar stuff.

Thanks, and yes, it would SEEM that the gelatin would PROBABLY work fine. The original question was "what does everyone think about the possibility of using gelatin" and it seemed that the group was somewhat opposed to it but I could not figure out why. That is why I was asking.
