Intresting how they lean forward on a vertical surface, Ill bet they use the tail as a prop against the wall too. I like! :)

Oh Wow Sandy! I had one for a little while and she was so awesome. They literally disappear when you place them on a natural piece of wood.. I would even go as far as changing color to blend. Congratulations!

Is the common name for these mossy leaf tails? nevermind saw other post

Mossy Leaf Tail Geckos are Uroplatus sikorae. The Giant Leaf Tail Gecko is Uroplatus fimbriatus.

gesang:
Very beautiful specimens! Although I have a hard time believing they are CB without further discussion. ;) Do you know who supposedly hatched them? I've been seeking other Uroplatus breeders (especially successful ones) to collaborate with.

I'm not suggesting they are not CB but with the current state of this genus in our hobby, I always question the validity of such claims . I would certainly agree they've been well cared for. They look healthy and seem to have decent weight on them, though thats just my intuition from looking at your two pictures.

I especially enjoy the white/gray coloration. Recently ours been adopting a more grayish look to do them during the day but their patterns vary tremendously at night. Also, our specimens have substantially more pronounced lateral fringes, especially around the lower jaw line. It's a shame we cannot get locale information on these....

Here are a few pictures of our U. fimbriatus

They are fimbriatus. We were told they are CB, but I cannot confirm that. They are very very shy but stunningly beautiful in person.

Man, Sandy! You and Elliot are going all out! That's great! Without knowing your source for the fimbs, I would highly doubt that they are CB as the only people around that have bred them successfully are keeping the offspring (I currently have 2 eggs cooking and have no intent on selling the babies...). Besides, uroplatus are a hard group to breed. The conditions need to be just right - although a fabulous group of geckos to work with and I highly recommend them. (and yours is very beautiful!)

Intresting how they lean forward on a vertical surface, Ill bet they use the tail as a prop against the wall too. I like! :)

Actually, they (as well as most of the uroplatus group) prefer to be vertical with their head facing down and they (along with the u. sikorae and u. lineatus) will waive their tail around at night or when eating. The best thing for them and where they feel most comfortable is on bark, however I will find them on the glass every so often. Here's something cool: Wait until the middle of the night or like 1:00 a.m. ish and go check on them (with most of the lights off). They will totally freak you out b/c invariably, they will be right in the front of the viv staring right at you with their pupils wide open. It is so freaky, yet cool. :D

Hey, let Luis or I know if you ever need help with any uroplatus questions. We both have plenty of experience with them.

Hey Juli!

I'm still awaiting those pics! The fimbriatus haven't deposited any eggs yet, so I'm thinking of warmer them up a little bit. Perhaps that will spark them to get working. :p

The new henkeli are looking great too. They've put on a healthy amount of weight and seem to be settling in nicely.

Anyway, I'll stop with the thread hijacking... :p

Don't mind the "thread hijacking" at all. Please, post your photos and suggestions.

I also question the CB or CBB claim. But that didn't really matter to us. Next time we travel to that place the lady invited us to come to her house to see her setups. That will tell us more. When we got these we picked them up at her store front reptile store.

Yes, he is actually hanging face down in the photo. That is how they prefer.

All facing down, I see. :p

Hmm.. I want to pick up some uros at the show.. arghh...

They were facing down (except for the guy that's sideways), Syn, but then the guy opened the tubs to take the photos, and so they now (with the lids hanging down) appear to be facing "up".

LOL wowww... Ryan was right... Im really falling to the "darkside"... these animals are crazzzzyyyy cool looking... look at those siiiccckkkk colors!!! the eyes!!!!! the skin!!!! lol f'ing awesome man!
