Well, Today I wanted to let my cham outside for a little while

Normally He is Dark Colors with bright blue, but when I took him out side he turned bright green like when he is when he is sleeping, is this normal have any of yalls chams done this? I am wondering if he likes it outside better or if he is bright because he is stressed

So right now he is in his cage still dark colors like normal but i am wondering if he is dark if thats a bad thing?

Well He is Veiled, male about 6 months old

the temp is around 84 degrees f and humidity is aroud 50%

I hope he is ok!

it's normal.
Chameleon do tends to go brighter and happier when they are outside.
On top of that, uvb emitted by sun and uvb light is quite different.
Hence, he might have to go darker to absorb more uvb from the light than from the sun.

yes, my chameleons have a perch outside they just sit on and their colors light up when they sit in the sun. It is totally normal. My chameleons now are so spoiled they expect the daily sun tanning. Funny

Now, is it my assumption which could be wrong, but veileds could handle a 8.0 UVB linear tube lamp.

Well I have a UVB 10.0 because i wanted to make sure that if he is low in the cage he could get to it but thank you i am glad that he is normal! ahhaha

i also use a 10.0 with no problems at all.
Also i find Mista goes darker depending on where he is in the cage.
The bursts of colour he exubes when in natural sunlight still amaze me,he goes all manner of oranges teals and yellows:D

Your cham is the closer in shape and colour than any other cham I've seen on these forums :D

Mine has those colours exactly: the slightly darker browns inside under lights and then the lighter greens when hes in the sun (unless hes a bit chilly then he uses more browns to catch more sun.)

They definitely can tell immediately between the quality of light and adjust accordingly.
