I've added some big live plants and removed the substrate then replaced it with kitchen roll.

So what do you think, better?

Looks great, the baby will appreciate all the hiding spots, but I'm not so sure about the foil on the light. Foil does weird things when it comes to reflecting UV light, I know it can damage plants. It may be fine to leave it on there, however, I don't want to be negative because you've done a GREAT job with the plants in this cage!

Thanks for the posative comment. I use tin foil on other reptiles lights and haven't had a problem so far so shouldn't be a problem. Do you know of any other ways of reflecting the light?

I have a cheap under-cabinet fixture from Wal-Mart that has some type of reflector underneath the light. Honestly though, if that works for you, sticking with it is fine. The only reason I said anything is because I have burned my indoor vegetables with foil reflectors, but I was using a plant light, not a reptile UV light.

Love the added hibiscus.
This is just nitpicking, but i would even throw out the paper towel.
Is there a reason why it's there?
If it is for drainage, then i don't think it will be that effective.


With the whole misting regiment, that paper towel will be damp.
and you would need to replace it often to avoid any bacteria build up.
completely bare bottom would be ideal and should make your life easier.

The reason it's there is because it's easy to remove/replace when it gets dirty. Instead of wiping the tray. If I change it often then it shouln't be a problem right?

For reflecting the light Id just go spend the $20 or so and get a decent hood, but if it came down to it take a can opener to a few soda can ends and then slit them down the middle, they do pretty well actualy for reflecting light. Looks good tho, hell for sure like it.

Setup looks excellent-make sure live plants are washed and either repotted in organic soil or he dirt covered with rock or sreen. I use Reptariums and the papertowel will turn into a soggy shredded mess with the amount of water you should use. I just wipe up poo and water with a papertowel.

I bought a male Yemen Chameleon today! I am now happy that my enclosure is suitable. His name is George(which will probably change LOL), pics coming as soon as he's settled in.
