CITES is not opinion. It is an international law. If you "disagree" with law, whatever, but it's still real and still applies to you.

CF was founded to share accurate information on chameleon keeping not to spread false information that hurts chameleons. Smuggling hurts chameleons and other threatened species. Period.

Hey I dont think they are mean to u,I understand ur frustration,but did u read the CITES rules? who went to pick the cham up for u?maybe they have the permits or document that allow them to bring it back.

You can cast everyone aside as being mean because they have the knowledge and experience necessary to know when you're wrong and care enough to want to make sure others don't make the same mistakes you have. At the end of the day, however, those members are here volunteering their time to help people like you, despite your blind insistence that no one but you knows what they're talking about. Despite what you say, everyone here knows the right answer in this case except you because they can see the numerous government references that have been provided showing that you are wrong. Whatever makes you feel better though, just don't insist on trying to take everyone else down with you by providing the same bad information you received.

This is completely wrong!i have brought a female panther chameleon over the border a month ago and they did see her and was completely okay with her they found her beautiful.

Aren't you lucky that the idiot border guard didn't know the regulations. Your are absolutely wrong. It is ILLEGAL to transport endangered species across international borders without the proper CITES paperwork. ILLEGAL. If the idiot border guards had realized, 0.your chameleon would have been confiscated and you would have been fined/charged with smuggling.

Just because you got away with it doesn't make it legal.

I once sent a blood sample of a parrot from Saudi Arabia to the US to get it tested for disease. I followed the lab's instructions and filled out a Department of Agriculture permit and sent it off. US Fish and Wildlife went MENTAL when they confiscated my three drops of blood and feathers from a living parrot. They fined the lab $4000 and I was VERY worried that it would be a problem when I applied to become an American citizen.

Give me a break. Nobody is treating you like a piece of crap.

You were flat out wrong and broke the law in two countries. If we hadn't jumped on you as strongly as we did, perhaps some other person might have blindly followed your advice and ended up with a criminal record for smuggling. Or some Canadian would be permanently barred from entering the US so they would never be able to go on a cruise or even on a family vacation to Disney. All to save one or two hundred dollars on a chameleon.

The wife and I brought a dog over the boarder last summer. We had all the appropriate paperwork done, but we still got the screws put to us at the boarder..

lets not also forget the price difference. With our Shit Canadian dollar right now, a US cham for sale at $300 is equal to $390 Canadian, plus the gas money and expenses to cross the boarder. Are you really saving that much?
