Hey!

As a true Québecer, of course i will follow the NHL series! Who else will? :D

Who are you betting on for the Cup? And what is your favorite team?

I used to go watch the minor league games in Wheeling WV with my dad when the team was called the Thunder birds but now they are called the Nailers. This was many years ago but I loved it. Since I have moved back into the area I have been watching the Penguins games with my dad and realize why I enjoyed it as a small kid.

HA! It's not like you can complain with the team the Penguins have!! I wish Montreal had a team that good!!

Since you talk about when you were younger... 22 years ago i started watching the Nordiques of Quebec!! Ooooh if they could come back!!

CAPITALS!!!!

......are going to destroy Montreal, and then the penguins too shortly after. I can't wait until thursday, game 1 Caps v. Canadians

Your pick is a good one Fidel, but i think the Canadiens have a chance to win against the Caps. Not a big one, but they still have a chance.

And Caps VS Penguins would be a great serie, but i don't think the Caps could win. Offensive-wise they are pretty much the same, with the Capitals having the best offensive line without a doubt, but the Penguins have the best second line. However, the Capital's weaknesses are their defense and their goaltenders.

In both case, their defense and goaltending are caracterized by up-and-downs. What i mean is they can be the best, but they can also be the worst. For example, Theodore won two very prestigious trophies in 2004 (Hart and Vezina), but he struggled for the next few years. This year, he was probably at his best since 2004, but he still had a few downs. The second goalie, Varlamov, has some potential, but he's still fairly young. Give him a few years and he will be worth it!

Overall, i say the caps are like the Pens two years ago: they are good, very good, but they still have to work on their defense. So next year or in two years the Caps should win the cup, but not this year. Once their team will be more balanced, with the same first offensive line, then the Canadiens won't have a single chance! ;)

Just my two cents! :)

Can't wait for playoff hockey to start! Spent many of my younger years in the "old" Chicago Stadium watching the Blackhawks. After a couple decades under the thumb of a selfish owner the SOB finally died and hockey is back in Chicago!

I am hoping for a Hawks v. Redwings matchup with the Hawk's moving on to face the Caps in the finals. Hawks winning of course but not until Ovechkin gets up close and personal with the boards a few times.

If nothing else - the deafening roar of fans during the National Anthem in Chicago is one of those events that every hockey fan should experience at least once.

I like Blackhawks! Of course i prefer Montreal, but i must admit that the Hawks have a very very good team. To me, they are better than the Caps, and slightly behind the Pens.

However it won't be easy against Detroit. These guys are used to getting to at least semi-finals, but if the Hawks beat them, who knows where they will end! ;)

Then I guess there's some people that can feel the pain I'm feeling right now...I'm a Rangers fan. :(

Right on, Rob!! I'm right there with you! Been to a few Blackhawk playoff games myself (back in the day the last time when they were good....) and there's nothing like it! :D

GO HAWKS!

My first hockey game that I ever went to was game 7 of the Hawks vs. Penguins Stanley Cup. What a GREAT EXPERIENCE! Too bad they lost that game but not this year!

Dude, I hate it for you, but your Habs don't stand a chance. I'm worried about New Jersey in round 2 though, we'll see how well Brodeur plays.

The redwings (who I hate) will have to go though Phoenix first, I hope Phoenix embarrasses them.

And Ovi has nothing to fear from Chicago, he's bigger than 99% of their roster, and faster.

*manly hug*

I think the Canadiens stand a chance... a small chance, but it's not impossible! To prove it, both teams were opposed 4 times this year, and if i remember correctly, both teams won twice! ;) In fact, the Canadiens won twice and lost in overtime once, which give them 5 points, compared to 4 for the Caps. Also, the caps scored 15 times against the Canadiens, meanwhile the Canadiens did it 14 times. So even if the Caps are far better in my mind, the Canadiens do have a chance because they didn't get over-scored like most team have been my the Caps. :)

And does Ovi have to fear the Hawks? I think Ovi is better than all the Hawks players, and without a doubt. But hockey is a team sport and this is why the Hawks should beat the Capitals, in my mind!

Then again, in a week you might prove me wrong! ;) We will see! :)

NY Rangers - OUCH! rough weekend.

While I'd love to see a Hawks v Caps final odds are it's not going to happen. Both have 3 series to win against tough teams first. Ove would be the best player on the ice and may be bigger than 99% of the Hawks. However, that 1% would be Dustin Byfulien who got moved from forward to D because of Ove's hit on Campbell. I'm sure Big Byf will remember this - the problem is whether or not he will actually play to his size or forget that he is 2 inches taller and has 20+ lbs on Ove (with almost as much speed).

Fidel - I have nothing against the Redwings. It's their fans that I hate. I hope the Hawks get a chance to play them. Not the easy rode but an opportunity to put an end to an era and let them know thier time is up (similar to the Jordan and the Bulls finally putting the Pistons in their place).

To me, the best final would face two of these teams: the Capitals, Penguins or Blackhawks. Two of them would be AWESOME, even though i'd love to see the Canadiens in final, but that, haha, is almost impossible even if i'm usually a believer! :p

But as you said RPCV, the western conference is so full of very good teams (much more than the eastern conference), so it's hard to tell what will happen!!

I thought i'd give you my bet on who get to the finals, but considering that i'm 0 in 4 with my bets last night, i'll pass! :p :D
