Any thoughts on this bulge?

I noticed this bulge on Alfred neck, it looks like it's sagging fat tissue or skin, thought I'd ask, the second pic is a picture after he realized I was watching and he inflated

There was another person that posted about swelling in the same exact areas on his veiled Cham that I see are puffy here, the head behind the eye, the neck, and the sides of his Casque (head pompadour/crest). That person took their Cham to the vet, and it turned out to be AIR, secondary to what the vet thought had been a respiratory infection or issue. In humans, we call it subcutaneous emphysema. The vet ended up using a fine needle and aspirated a good deal of air. It didn't sound like it was life threatening IIRC.

Just a thought. I'm not a vet, I'm a human Paramedic. I can't say for sure, but I'm seeing the same signs here.

I hope it's nothing serious!

The casque I thought where fat stores, the eyes I had my vet take a look and he took some swabs and a mouth smears and nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary, also blood work was done. Thank you for the response @MedicMan1 ill do some more research

The neck looks like gular edema. What is you dusting schedule and misting schedule? His casque may be fat stores especially since he has fairly chubby cheeks too, depends on what you are feeding and how much?

I'm dusting with plain calcium almost every feeding, with D3 twice a month. His mister is set to go off at 7:30am for 5 minutes, at 11:30 for 3 minutes and at 4:30 for one minute, but he hates being listed and has found all the areas of his cage to avoid it, i see him drinking every now and then but afterwards, liking his lips, do you suggest I stop dusting all together for a little bit?

If it's on one side, be concerned, if it's symmetrical on both sides, it's likely normal. As they mature, they develop jowls and fat deposits where you're seeing the bulge. Mine looks very similar.

No problem. Like I said, I'm no expert. I know that puffy areas like that can either be fat or air, but I can't properly assess without gently poking a finger into the area myself. I was simply reminded of that thread, and that other Cham presented very similarly.

I'm not experienced enough yet with cham physiology to diagnose or suggest other pathologies or issues, so for any further debate, I will submit to those that are.

I sincerely hope that there is zero effect on the health of Albert by whatever is the culprit. He is a majestic Yemen. Such a powerful looking lad.

I also hope he's ok,I just started to notice that bulge, gular edema looks very similar now that I look at it so I'll be backing off his dusting s a while, see how that goes, he eats ok and is alert so I'll keep an eye on him.

Don't back off the calcium. Its said that it can be other nutrients that cause edema though. This puffy casque seems to be more common lately....wishni knew what caused it for real. I'm not a vet but I wonder when it's said to be from a sinus infection. Usually a sinus infection shows up differently than that.

I feed him hornworms regularly in addition to his mist sessions because I know he's difficult to hydrate at times
