Any water repellent solutions?

How do i stop the water from hitting the cage floor, then splashing out of the enclosure? I don't want to damage any walls, furniture, etc. Tired of wiping down everything with towels, or leaving towels under my cage and having to wash them every other day. Also i don't want to start a mold colony :)

Is there some type of water repellent paint that i could coat 1/3 of the bottom mesh? Thats safe from insects eating it? Some sort of spray, or a product that i could get that prevents this for a DIY 2x2x4 enclosure? There has to be something...

This is driving me crazy! haha

Simplest solution would be just to but a small boarder around the bottom of the cage using tape and ripped up garbage bags.

That could work... I want something that looks nice though lol.

I might make a trip to home depot and pick up some big sheets of styrene, Mesure out the dimensions, Cut the pieces, then hot glue gun it onto the mesh. Hopefully that works.

At fabric stores you can buy table cloth vinyl for a reasonable price (under $20 per yard) and they have great colors.

Sweet, I'll start thinking about some ideas with that fabric. Theres a fabric store not too far from here.

Do you have adequate drainage?

Yeah, i drilled holes on the bottom of the cage and theres a large water saucer that collects the water. I just hate when i mist then the water that drips down to the floor splashes and hits the mesh, then goes outside of the cage. Then it drips to my stand/table. Eventually wood starts to rot, etc. lol I think ima try my plastic idea for the bottom.

Plexi should work, and is clear. If you put a live plant in there is should catch the water and no more splashing. :D

That's a solution that wins on a number of levels.

My chameleon is sick :( has coccidia and pinworms so i can't have too much going on in his enclosure to make things easier to clean. I should have noted that in my post. I'll keep that in mind for future references.

Thanks for the advice though!
