Ok, now this is a question, testing the waters, dont flame me too bad.
I understand leo to snapping turtle is completely unnesecary, but what about my snakes that i have to feed rabits/guine pigs too? What is everyones view on that? I also have anoles and day geckos that i have to feed to some of my monitors when they are being stubborn. I would never do something like in the video, but im just wondering what your takes are on the big snake diet
99 out of 100 snakes will except frozen/thawed humanely pre-killed prey with a little persistance and consistancy from the owner. A few will unfortunately need to be offered live prey, this is unfortunate, but an aspect of nature that needs to be respected as much as the animals in question, both predator and prey.
In general, live prey is not nessesary, and sadly, its the sick cruel types who get a kick out of it, that give most respectable herp keepers a bad reputation.
The size of the snake is neither here or there regards live food, its just not nessesary. The lack of nessesity in captivity is what makes it a cruel (and sometimes dangerous) practice, though in nature it is natural.
Incidently, its more likely that something is lacking with your monitors enviroment, rather than them being 'stubborn'. I never had a healthy monitor that refused to feed.
