My baby veiled is so sweet. 30 minutes or so before bedtime I will handle him one more time and after a bit he will fall asleep on me lol its sooooo cute, then I have to put him back in his cage, but he keeps turning back and up my arm to fall asleep again. Once I get him settled on the vine where he sleeps he stays there all night. Its sooo cute. He crawls across the cage screen everyime I come in untill I pick him up. Super calm and relaxed :) !!

And if your going to negative on this "blah blah blah" sterotyping veil's then go somewhere else. I volunteer with the reptile shows and any chameleon can be tamed and hand raised. Some look and crave the attention of owners.

I think this is awesome. My cham will also snuggle up on me if I let him. There was a thread earlier about viels and people sterotyping them so I doubt you have to worry about it! I think if you just handle your cham more and have him from a baby they will feel very comfortable with you. Its really cool when they trust you and just wanna crawl on your rater then thier cage or free range.

I salute you!

Just what I need even though I'm still new here, noticed some are way toooo exaggerated when it comes to advice or telling you what to do. Do what you feel is right for your chameleon, my chameleon does the same to me sometimes and I handle him just fine, never seen him puff or stress or anything, worrying isn't from owning a chameleon it turns out to be, it's from the people that keep on telling you it's all wrong even though it's perfectly right (no offense).

that is simply adorable :) he sounds like a complete love!!!
i love how each cham has their own personality, yes some dont like being handled but others are sweethearts and very social, it all depends on the individual chameleon. :) what a special relationship you two have!! i would love to see some pics of him!

Here he is sleeping lol, he's only three months ! He had a full day of shedding and the pictures a little blurry. But he's amazing. Thanks for the support guys. People on here are too quick to jump out and slap your wrist for handling your cham. Patience and respect. All you need to build a bond and comfort level. I handle him all the time with no ill effects, no puffing or hissing or any attitude. Everyone and every animal is a product of their environment, so if you want to never handle your cham and feed into sterotypes then your not building the bond to have a social animal.

alot of members ive talked to are all for handling their chams and a lot of theirs are very social as well. there are some who feel that handling is too stressful for chams but to each their own opinion i think. i respect everyones opinion and do all the research i can and do what i think is best :) since there is no concrete evidence supporting handling leading to heart attacks or overstressing to the point of killing a chameleon, my opinion is handle it until it appears upset and then let it relax, take things slow, and you will build a great relationship with your cham!
oh and i dont see any pics!!! :( lol

Oooops tired today. He is my baby man, he finished shedding today I will have to get a good shot of him with his new vibrancy :)

I am working with my little Idoneous in hopes to lower his stress towards being handled. He does not hiss or puff up. He only shows stress colors when I hold him at a lower angle. I have been going so slow with him for fear of stressing him out, but I want to make sure that he knows I won't hurt him. I plan on hand feeding him some silkworms, hornworms and butterworms when they arrive to see if it helps.

It's nice reading about how other people's Chams react to being handled instead of only reading about never handling your cham. :)

:)Thanks for all the support guys ! Plus, your chameleon tells you when he is cranky.. I woke Pascal up from a nap once by accident and he flared right up. So if you respect your chams space and take time to bond with them the results will show

Its hard to say you have had your cham for only a week, and i am very envious of your relationship with your guy but until you have had or have one of these chameleons that are very skeptical of their owners or anyone its easy to say every and any chameleon can be tamed. I agree that every situation is different and if your chameleon is ok being handled than by all means handle them as much as you want. Its the lil guys that don't like to be touched that should maybe have some more space and be handled less. Even though my guy puffs and hisses now i still try to work with him very much and he is showing no signs of returning to his sweet old self. Its just a fact that every chameleon is different and some stay sweet and some just flip. I am jealous of all you guys right now but still love my guy and wouldn't trade him. There are so many people on here who have the same experience of a chameleon being sweet then all of a sudden one day changing to more aggressive/shy. I think its unfair to say or assume that they are not doing the right things to keep their guys tame, because im sure if everyone on here could turn their cham back into the sweet lil guy he used to be most would do it in a second but it just doesn't work that way. You truly are blessed and lucky with your guy!

All I've heard experienced owners say in the past is that chameleons shouldn't be "cuddly" or willing to sleep in a high-stress environment, like a moving arm for example. That it shows there is some health concern. Just something I have heard.

I mean, in a reptile's eyes, we are huge predators. There is no way of them knowing we "love" them. Eventually yes, it is possible they will associate our hands with receiving food. Yes, this is a good way of "taming."

Just IMO, they are reptiles, not cats or dogs. They should be left alone for the most part unless necessary to be handled. Sometimes it's hard for an owner to see that they are causing stress.

When I had a veiled he did the same thing, but was grumpy any other time. Kuzco, my panther has only fell asleep on me once but is the sweetest boy ever if its during the day:)
