My son has a cham and now my daughter wants a bearded dragon. Do any of you own them and are they ok for a twelve yr old (i am sure i will be primary care giver). I would like advise on reputable breeder, all we have is petsmart, and after my negative experience with cham i will not purchase from them. Thanks in advance!

Truthfully it boils down to...Do you think your daughter is responsible enough to care for an animal......Long term? Bearded dragons are extremely rewarding and a great lizard to keep.

Hello, I have had many bearded dragons and i have one for now. They are the best pets for young kids :) My 1 year old loves him and the bearded doesnt mind him at all.

Bearded dragons are excellent for the young and old alike. They are easy to care for and very hardy.
More than happy to assist you in letting you know what you need.
I have lots of available babies and a few juveniles at the moment.

If size is an issue you could consider Rankins dragons, they have pretty identical requirements but stay small!

Lance breeds great animals, I have one of his panther chams and am very impressed. I had 4 bearded dragons during middle/high school, and they were incredibly easy to both tame and care for. They make wonderful beginner reptiles, and are not as "high maintenance" as chameleons are. They eat... ALOT... and poop ALOT. But in my opinion, this factor is good for younger individuals to deal with. It helps them to find out if they are really interested in this hobby or not! Very laid-back for the most part, and quite interactive. I'd say get one, thumbs up!

I love our beardy, Lizzy is her name. Very tame creature, she loves being rubbed under her chin. Eats a ton, and is pretty active. Only ever puffed up at me once when we took her outside and she didn't want to come back in. GL if you do get one, pretty easy to take care of.

This thread is unrelated to chameleon husbandry so it was moved from the general husbandry section. Please try to post threads in the correct forum category in order to make life easier on the mods. Thanks :)

I know this was posted a few months ago. I was wondering if you are still looking for bearded dragons or not. We have 3 for sale currently. We bought them at reptile shows from very very good breeders (Carolina Classic Dragons). Paid good money for them. 250 for two of them and 325 for the other. We will not be selling them for nearly as much. I was only telling you that to show their worth. Now they are probably worth more, since they are much bigger in size. One is a Yellow Citrus and another is a Rainbow Tiger. The third we arent really sure what it is. We are just trying to get rid of them asap. Not because we do not like them, but because we need the room. Have a baby due in Oct and our "lizard room" will be the nursery. If you are interested you can email me at [email protected]. I can send pictures. We also have pretty big terrariums that we can add. Probably without cost. There are decorations to go inside, heat lamps, food and water dishes. They are very good pets for children. My two year old loves them. Hate to have to get rid of them, but we just dont have the room or time really since we are both dual military.
