Anyone Ever Get Their Cham From...

Ah cool...we need a section like that here! Like a "Vendor / Breeder Feedback" section.

Maybe a link to the BOI page, (maybe a decision for @Brad) but the forums are not set up for reviews of vendors. Even then, I don't know if there would be any issue with the link being part of the actual layout. The Fauna Classifieds seem to be one of the better resources for general info that I've seen, but I haven't used it that much. It would get a bit problematic with Forum Sponsors being reviewed on the same site that they sponsor. It is a great place to find some reputable breeders though ;).

Yes. Backwater. I have 2 from there

I'm guessing good experiences overall? Their FAQ states they won't send pictures a head of time so that makes me a little leery...Trying to avoid my first buying experience being like "a box of chocolates" ...never know what yer gonna get LOL

How do i put this....

Backwater is not a "place". They have no phone, no shop, no anything. You order a herp from them, and then they tell their "guy" to ship one of the "guys" herps from his stash. So you might order from them, and get a cham from "Bill the breeder", and then a month later order the same cham, and get it from "Ted the breeder".

So the reason you can never get pics, is because backwater never sees the herp, They just know Ted in Ohio has carpets, and they have Ted drop ship it too you. So backwater is just a front end to a group of herp salesmen.

Interesting, so it really is a "crap shoot" with them. Thanks for this info.

Both times were memorable! And both were a little wierd. I Asked for a male at around Dec 15. When they sent her it was Christmas rush and she got here on Christmas eve. I tried to call and have them hold her at the shipping place but it was overloaded for Christmas. When ups delivered her i thought she was dead. I rushed her under the light laying on her side w frozen back legs. All of a sudden, eye opened. There she was, still alive in a frozen like body. Obviously, i didnt get a male. But i love her so much because of the struggle. She acts a little strange but i think its because she was frozen. This was a long one. If you want to hear about the other guy, let me know..

Someone who won't or can't supply a picture is either too big to care, too detached from their animals to care, or not very interested in customer service and information. The BOI is well worth the time especially for the larger businesses. Yes, there's drama, but sometimes its a hoot to read along. You can search for specific vendors and read about others' experiences. Large volume sellers may have lower prices, but there's usually a cost somewhere else that you and the animal end up paying.

Half the reason I check the boi is to get a chuckle out of the drama.

The ongoing "come fight me bro" mike Matson stuff has been especially entertaining.
