Anyone Have Name Ideas For This Little Guy?

You may want to start considering female names as I don’t think you have a male. I went back through all of your threads and pix and do not see any hemipenal bulges on any of the photos you have posted although it’s hard to tell on some. It’s also a little distressing to me that nobody else has noticed this as that can make a difference in care when s/he gets older.

If you could post a few clear pix of the tail base we can verify for sure what sex you have.

Well then......... that changes everything, I havent really seen carpet chams, so I could have never sexed him/her, so i think im in the clear

I am thinking Kaleid ( pronounced Clyde) short kaleidoscope. With all those colors he just looks like a kaleidoscope.

This is exactly what I wanted to name our veiled and my boyfriend said it was stupid.

EWWWWWW! i hope i dont have a girl :( the lady i got him from that ordered "it" said that she specified on the website a MALE.. because i've had my jackson for 2 years now.. and every female ive gotten has died on me within a year :( i really hope my new chameleon isnt a girl.. all the stuff with still dropping eggs and if they dont they get eggbound and die and its all so frustrating.. i'm a male type of chameleon girl.. so i'll take pictures of his tail base to his stomach once i get home from work.. the pictures should be up around 6pm EST.. so please check back and help me figure out how to tell if this is a boy or a girl!!!

By the way! if this is for sure a male, i will be calling him Kaleid (CLYDE) because i thought it was an adorable name! (CLYDE) the Chameleon! hahaa :) my boyfriend doesnt like it too much.. but it dont care :D now lets just hope HE isnt a SHE or else thats another ball game  we'll find out the sex for sure soon :( i'm just waiting for Dooley (Kevin) to PM me back.. since he's the CARPET MASTER i hear ;)

What am I? Chopped liver? ;) :p

I agree, Kevin is awesome and I was hoping he would see your threads and confirm either way. It's been a long while since I worked with the lateralis.

Holly, take some pictures of the base of the tale from multiple angles and post them. Trace is awfully good at stuff like this.

I think the coloring looks male, but it's a young animal and I don't know when the females start getting amazing looking.

Meanwhile, I had great male names but it's too late: Frieze or Berber.

If it's a female: Saxony, Velvet and Plush are my suggestions.

i will post more photos on the sexing thread once i get home from work :) so i should take it with him on his stomach? i dont really know how to do this stuff

What you want is the vent area. So, on a branch or finger but holding him/herself up so you can see the space between the vent and the branch.

Your poop picture (on this thread: https://www.chameleonforums.com/maybe-gross-but-i-thought-cute-85532/ ) is perfect. I still think female BTW. I know your apprehension with keeping a female so I really hope I'm wrong when it comes to the sex of your critter. However there are a few of us that can give you some good pointers and help with this species. Anyways, pix from the side showing the tail base will help us immensely. Here are some samples of what to look for and how to take shots of your chameleon:

Jade if it's a girl ... Benji if it's a boy ( Jade cause of the color and Benji ... well , no reason on that one , really )

Tracey knows more about chameleons than I do. :)

It is a female, unless I'm seriously misinterpreting the pics! Congrats. Where did you obtain her from? You can PM me if you want to about that...was she WC or CB. She is nice and young which is a good thing. She hasn't yet blossomed into her adult coloration.

Kevin

Holly, people here can help you with the egg laying thing. If you prepare in advance and aren't caught off guard, it doesn't have to be horrible. I'll repeat my suggestions for a girl: Saxony, Velvet and Plush (they are all types of carpet).
