Anyone in *cold* climates successfully keep feeders in the garage?

No luck in ohio. Even "in the basement" at 60f, it was a no go. Seem the only way to get things going is using a big cooler, and placing the bugs and some adjustable plant bed heaters in it . Its 70F or bust. My buddy managed this with a broken chest freezer. Hardest part is the air flow. Still couldnt keep crickets, they require too much airflow to keep themselves from farting to death.

What heat source do you use?

I use a heating mat under the container. It cycles on and off every 20 minutes for safety.
