Anyone know a place with silk worms in stock

Propagate your own! It is quite easy! The other cool thing is that you can leave the eggs in the refrigerator for up to a year (sometimes even longer). Just make sure that you add new blood to your colony once a year. Totally worth it!

How would i keep and hatch the eggs? How long do they take to hatch?

There are some threas here on the forums on the care of sikworms. It is quite easy. I stick the eggs in two layers of zip lock bags in the refrigertor. When I want silkworms I just pull the eggs out and keep them in my chameleon room (ambient temp between 73 to 76 degrees) the eggs takes 7 to 11 days to hatch.

Just hatched some eggs myself for the first time. Had to try due to the fact I couldn’t find any either.

Do they take long to grow?

The growth rate of the silkworms depends on temperatures that you keep them at and what you feed them (mulberry leaves versus chow) and how frequently you feed fresh food. You can grow them from when they hatch to maturity in just over a month. But you can hatch new eggs any time you need to and have them at different stages of development at the same time.

@Katacara sells silkworms, I just don't know how the winter weather will play in to the shipping process. This thread reminded me that I forgot to buy a new shipment of silkworms from her! :)

As a breeder I go through a lot of bugs quickly! I was low on small feeders. @Katacara just send me baby silkworms all the way to California! They made it just fine!
One more thing how many would you guys recomend getting i have a 7 month old male veiled he’s a bit of a picky eater, I’m asking because just recently i bought a pod of hornworms and a bunch went to waste

I just got a shipment of live worms from coastal idk what was wrong with it, usually their stuff is amazing but these worms became very sick very fast, was going to use them as breeding stock to increase production in my hybrids and... well they got culled instead. I know with silks and especially white strains and regular low quality zebra strains random things can cause illness very very fast. Just be aware right now that you may want to split the colony of whatever number you get into multiples. It's what I always do. I still have eggs that have just finished hatching of whites from them and the babies are growing like weeds I desperate them quickly within 3 weeks.

So split up the 50 worms into separate containers? Btw i got regular silk worms

It is strange how chameleons will go through phases! One day they might love a certain feeder insect and the other day they would show them no interest! That is just how chameleons are! Get yourself a couple of hundred silkworms. Try to feed some to your chameleon. If your chameleon loves them, good for you! Keep about 20 to 30 worms to maturity and let them breed. Once you have a bunch of eggs in the refrigerator you can pull them out as need be! Hope this helps!
