Anyone know a way to control or eliminate the little flies that hatch from potted plants?

Post a picture of them then? I can promise I had a worse fungus gnat problem in my bio set ups than anyone on this forum. And I truly mean that with no intent to make it a competition. Sundews solved it. I tried everything from vinegar traps to sticky traps. Nothing came close. Fruit flies on the other hand seem to ignore the sundews

For some reason, the dozens of gnats disappeared gradually. Now I only have an occasional few. Not sure if my cham performed a massacre or the escape feeders ate the larva.

@jamest0o0 Question about the organic little demon removers, sundews et al. I only have sporadic out breaks of fungus gnats, do you have to feed them insects if they aren't getting any on their own?

I tried to get the picture to show the new trap as well so you knew I just took it ;) my sundews are really small so they only get a few gnats here and there, I needed bigger guns!! :p

Ahhh @Zilla23 I see my sundews were much larger than that. They grow very fast when eating regularly.

@JacksJill you can if you want, they'll grow faster that way, but IME they mainly just need correct water and light to live.

@Zilla23 Thank you for sharing about Katchy!! I'm definitely thinking about getting one...or multiple...lol.

To anyone else battling with bugs infesting their plants, I just today heard about a trick that can possibly permanently fix the issue, and I'd love to see if any of you guys have heard of this or tried it. He told me he had a fruit fly problem in house plants and a pest professional told him to fill the top of the planter with 2-3 inches of sand and then add your pond rocks on top of the sand. I also like this because organic soil just does NOT work for me...makes my entire home smell like manure, and I use regular potting soil.

Obviously this would only help if your issue is coming from plants...turns out I might be battling an entire building infestation in my condo's building. We have such a large number of people affected it's hard to figure out what's going on. I'm looking into using Bio-Clean for my drains to see if that's potentially our issue: https://www.amazon.com/Bio-clean-Dr...rds=bio+clean&qid=1560997291&s=gateway&sr=8-3

My saga continues as well. :cautious:

I heard you can use a dishsoap and water mixture and spray on the plants.. but i'm not sure if that's healthy for a chameleon. I have little black flies all over my house from the potted plants.

Was recommended Carnivorous plants like sundews by @jamest0o0 . Sundews helped a ton!

Edit: Need to be put near a light source. Didnt do this at first and they didn't do much. Put them near the light source poof, gone.

Couldn’t a large chameleon eat them? I think Bill Strand and the dude from Arcadia Reptile (forgot his name) talked about it in the Chameleon Breeder Podcast. I wouldn’t want my big guy eating them, considering the cheap feeder geckos that I would get most likely contain parasites (from what I’ve read)

John-Courtney Smith. Not a larger cham no. More so with pygmeys and carpets. Panthers and vields tend to ignore them.
