I'm looking into different misting systems, came upon the Zoo Med Repti Rain Automatic Mister and im looking for opinions on it! does it work well, can you set the timer to go off appropriately to keep the humidity up in your chams cage, overall what did you think of it?

thanks guys!!! :)

I have not used it But the reviews don't look to good and for $40 more dollars or so you can order from mistking or aquazamp. I think in the end it will be well worth it. I use the mistking and prior to that I spent enough money on DIY and cheaper brands that I could have bought three of the mistkings :(

Did you read the reviews at Amazon.com on this?
Some of those are from us forum members.

Basicly, if I can possibly avoid it, I do not buy anything from Zoo Med, or
Zilla!! I have have enough bad experiences with both over the years to
mention.

i havent read the reviews, i will go check that out. i wasnt looking on amazon at the misting systems so i didnt even think of looking at reviews on amazon thanks psychobunny!!

what misting system do you use and suggest?

It really depends on what kind of cham U have.

For a juvie panther or veiled I get the Mistking starter set and give him a 36'' cage. Use one nozzle.

U will still need a dripper running during the day making sure the drops of water cascade over the leaves.

Jacksons need something better then just plain misting to stimulate them.
They need the raindome, or something (even home made) like it that produces big rain like drops of water.

So, what kind of cham do U have, what age, and how big is his cage?
Then I can make a better estimate for you :D

If you already said all that stuff, sorry, I am to lazy to look through the post's, plus while I type this, my dinner is burning in the oven!!

I'm going to be getting a male baby veiled :) between 3 and 5 months old!

i dont blame you for not looking back at older posts, most people have soo many it would take forever :) i started a post asking opinions about putting him into his adult enclosure from the get go 2feet wide x 2feet deep x 4feet tall. didnt get many replies but most said as long as i watched him close and made sure he was getting his food by cup or hand feeding that would be fine. i can do that or start him in a 1ft x1ft x1ft enclosure which i started my first baby in.. i would rather put him in the adult enclosure if it would work alright but im not sure about it yet.

i have a dripper! i looked at the mistking starter kit after your first reply and really like it!

thank you for taking the time to go over this with me!! :D :)

For your young veiled, you will need a 18x18x 36 or there abouts.
A 12'' cube is too small even for babies a week old!!

Veileds are used to Yemen climate and are much easier to keep hydrated then montaines or even panthers.
Did you read the care sheet for veiled, David should pop up any moment to give U the link which he always seems to have handy. :D

With this size cage, you will not heed to upgrade him until he is about 8 months old.
Adult male veiled (like montaines) need room to move about, and they will do much better if you are able to let them out of the cage to roam about free range.
Chams do not fair well if couped up and confined to the limits of a cage.

Weather permitting, they also should be taken out doors for real sunshine.

PS. Please feel free to PM me anytime if you would like a one on one communication
Oh, also don't forget to check out my taming blog :)
