Anyone's branches start sprouting?

Had branches I cut down sitting outside for weeks before I put them in my enclosure. About 2 weeks ago I noticed some little sprouts. Now they're on their way to growing a whole oak tree in my cage lol. Didn't even know this could happen.

It's a bioactive setup, correct? It is possible if you stuck the ends in the dirt that they are basically doing what happens when you make a cutting from a tree.

You must have cut them, stored them and then planted them at just the right moment. There is a technique for cultivating woody plants where you cut them before they bud & are dormant and then plant them as the ground warms and they will root and grow.

Nope they're not even planted. And I cut off all the buds and twigs. A few of them are sprouting. I'll have to get some pictures. I think the one branch might be in the dirt but the others are suspended on both sides. I did put some moss on the ends where they touch the screen, but it's mostly dry.

In all honesty though, you've basically had what happens when you want to have a cutting from a tree take root. Just weird that it's doing it without any hormones or dirt.

Actually, I'm dumb... so many branches intertwined, the 2 with sprouts all over are sitting in the dirt. They are really sprouting a lot though.
