I would suggest that you dont get the chameleons. Pet-Co is like most other large national pet stores, they take poor care of thier chameleons. Your better off going to a more reputable person.

A list of places seeling vieleds are below.

www.flchams.com
www.bluebeastreptile.com
www.chameleonsonly.com

there are other, but i cant think of them

Thanks,
Jake

3 inch head to tail is approximately 1 - 2 months old...3 inch snout to vent is approximately 4 - 6 months old depends on food intake.:D

Thanks guys, i have been looking at those sites, but its jsut i like to see what i am geting before i buy it...but will probably go with them since theose are so much nicer.

My wife just rescued a veiled from a local Petco just last week. She is not in good shape at all. We are misting like crazy, trying to put drops of crushed up food, and vitamins in mouth by syringe. I would not suggest any purchase of a cham from them. I am going to buy one(for myself) from a breeder online. Someone that knows what they are doing.

I only have expererience with FL Chams, but you just cannot go wrong with the breeders. You really don't need to see before you buy, although many will take a pic of the actual animal. They guarantee what they sell and they have the necessary experience to raise healthy animals.

This is a somewhat naive question. But just how exactly are chams shipped? For an animal that stresses out easy I would think they wouldn't handle all that moving about.

I actually rescued mine too. She was found out and about in some bushes outside the store where I worked. According to what I've read she's about 6 months old. Being as they aren't native to kansas I'm guessing someone set her loose. Lucky I have her now being as the temps are hitting 100+ this week!!!

On a side note...I was at a local petsmart a few weeks ago and they had a veiled about 6 months old and she looked really good. The people there have always been really careful with the reptiles (fish are another story)

The PetCo down the street is even better. I've talked to three different people there and all of them breed some form of reptile. One girl did boas, another did chams and geckos and the other guy was all about dragons. So I tend to shop there for my supplies. Of course not every store is so lucky to have smart people. Super nice, and super knowledgable.

All 7 of mine came UPS overnight. They are packed in round plastic deli containers with a moist papertowel, and then plaed in a square box insulated with styrofoam. Newspaper is placed around the container to keep it from shifting. A heat or old pak is added depending on temperaure. All of mine ame out of the box and started eating. They left the breeder at 4-5PM and arrived here before 10AM.

...I work at petco , And I happen to take damn good care of the animals that im in charge of. (I dont take care of all of the reptiles though.) But yes I agree Petco is horrible, they are too cheap to put any money into taking good care of any of the animals. If I need to replace broken/damaged equipment, the animals have to be dying for them to do anything about it. Ive been waiting for a new RO/DI filter for almost a year now.

Every time I have seen veils in petco they look terrible and are not housed appropriately. Not to mention the horror stories of malnutrition linked sicknesses and deaths of so many reptiles that are purchased there. They really should not carry such reptiles and stick with fish... It is best not to support petco reptile sales.

I was in petco the other day, when i saw them, looking for some fish salt. I was actually suprised because they started carrying corals...i guess the guy who worked there thoguht he knows what hes doing with them and convinced the manager to get soem to try. They get shipments on friday, and when i was there saturday morning nothing was left, save a worm i got, a couple bad looking anenomes, and one ricordia mushroom. IF they get a lot of stuff in like that, i dont think it would be too bad to buy the day or the day after they recive them, since theres no time to mistreat them.

HA! Dont kid yourself, just stay away from petco animals in general. Supplies are fine to get, but not animals. Most of their so-called "specalists" just took an easy test and then became the "specalists" to get a .50$ raise. Granted that some of them acctually know what they are talking about, but the majority of them dont. I've been taking care of saltwater reef tanks for a little over 16 years now and have setup and run several stores. Every so often I go into random stores to see if they know what theyre talking about, and usually..they dont. Most of them start out with small freshwater tanks and think they know everything because they have kept the same fish alive for a year. In conclusion...PETCO SUCKS!!!(I should know I work at one) ;) Also IF you ever buy reptiles from them, for the love of god make sure they dont have mites!! The reptile section at my store is COVERD with them and we cant do anything about it because that would require money to do so..
