AquaZamp RainDome

I finally got it all hooked up and am pleased with it. Moe was more interested in getting out of the cage and on to his tree and could almost care less about the rain/mist. The three year old I live with (roommates kid) seemed the most interested. As a drainage system I drilled several small holes spaced out along the floor of the enclosure. The water drains into a large plastic bin which I will empty out. Right now I have the timer set to the following:

Moe's lights on at 8:00am

1st misting: 9:00-9:06
2nd misting: 11:30-11:38
3rd misting: 1:40- 1:42
4th misting: 4:00-4:04
5th misting: 6:30-6:36

Moe's lights off at 8:00pm

Adding a video for those who may be interested.

How long are the mist times for? Seems like alot of misting for a Veiled....

The raindome looks cool in the vid though.....and of course the kid is just precious....lol

Misting times are listed above and for how long they go for. I'm just kind of playing around with it right now honestly. I'm going to watch the results for the next few days and see how things go, adjust as necessary. I'm all ears though to anybody's advice/opinions.

Yeah, she didn't like when I moved in front of her. She sat there and watched it like it was T.V. lol

That seems fine to me. It's almost 30 minutes of water a day, I do closer to 45 for all of mine with their mistking. I believe in long misting times though. You can probably get away with making one longer and cutting one out completely. But as long as your cage dries between mistings, you don't have to change anything.

Great video Shanon! I love the commentator! Thanks for sharing it with us. I posted it on the AquaZamp facebook page (if ya don't mind ).

My only thoughts are that I might try moving the dome so it is over a plant so Moe can drink from the leaves. You might also flip the bulkhead fitting over on the RainDome so that the nozzle sits a bit closer to the screen.

Looks like it's "raining" in your chameleons cage......... :D

I too, purchased one last month and I have had it running for almost a month now. EXCELLENT product, with easy to understand instructions. Kevin will answer any and all questions and is a pleasure to do business with.

............and Kevin, if your reading this.........PLEASE elaborate a little bit on the "changing the bulkhead" suggestion. What does it do, and HOW do we change it ???

so if you look at the top pic this is how it probably is now, the bottom pic is what it would be like if you flip the "bulkhead" around

in order to do that you have to push in the little ring on the bulk head and pull the top piece out, then unscrew it and pop out the nozzle part and then... put it back together the other way. i took pics of that too but it seemed like overkill.

Thanks for the kind words Don!

Flipping the bulkhead will bring the nozzle closer to the screen. In some cases it's better to have it higher and in some to have it lower. Shanon is using a Torrential RainDome. The spray in this dome is wider than with the standard dome. I am just suggesting she try it and see if the result is the same or better for her. The bulkhead fitting has the one end of it that is solid while the other end is the locking nut. So when going through thin material like the RainDome the bulkhead will stick out from the plastic more on one side than the other.

No problem about reposting the video. So far I love the product. I have it half over the spider plant as I didn't want to completely drown it. As far as flipping the bulkhead, I'll play around with that on my next day off. I'm going to guess that moving the nozzle closer to the screen will make more large drops near the center of the dome verses where right now they are more to the outer parts of the dome. I'll let you know the outcome when I do it.

Thanks for the pictures. It does help explain it.

Thanks for the pictures........Ben, that makes it a lot clearer.

Thanks for the response too, Kevin. Your product makes things much easier, even though Flash still is a little reluctant to stay under the dome. He used to run like a banshee when it came on..........now he slowly makes his way out of the impending "storm from above".

Ben, thanks for posting those pictures. That is Exactly what I was talking about! (nice pics too.... 30D? hehe :))

Shanon no rush, but feedback is always welcome!

And thanks Don. The whole idea is to make cham keeping easier :D and to have a cool gadget that is built to last:D
