Arcadia Problem

Does anyone have the Arcadia d3 basking lamp 100w? Mine seems to be turning off randomly. It starts flickering then just goes out. At first I thought I had blown it but after unplugging it for a few mins it turned back on.
I've checked all the connections and they seem fine and i dont think its getting too hot

Its in a really big exo Terra glow light fixture

Not sure what's going on so was wondering if anyone has had this kind of problem or knows how to solve it?
Thanks guys

My old exto-terra fixture had the same exact problem...May be the fixture then.

Try getting a new fixture from petco or something, test the bulb out to see if it's the bulb or fixture. If it's the fixture, keep it. Bulb, return it.

New fixture and same thing hmmm I think its over heating then

Thats a bummer...

Is your fixture a High-Output fixture? If not, thats your problem :)

Arcadia's require high-output lighting fixtures hence the name "T5-HO 22" 6% Arcadia..." I would suggest you picking up a double fixture so you can have a 5000k or 6500k grow light also.

LYR.com sells these as grow lights that work with that fixture (I've had problems with these, I feel like they hurt cham eyes but I guess it's just me):
http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Trich...8&qid=1363610660&sr=8-1&keywords=22"+6500k+t5

Or you can get a 5000k which is more comparable to natural light:

If your fixture is a high-output fixture and you got your arcadia bulb from lightyourreps then message Venutus1 (Todd) and i'm sure he can get you set up with another bulb//exchange.

That's the wrong type of bulb :D,
This is what i have http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/arcadia-d3-uv-basking-lamp-100w.html
anyway I got a replacement and it hasn't cut out yet so fingers crossed it was a faulty bulb

Just to be clear for North American readers, you are using a D3 Mercury Vapor Bulb.... 220/230v right?

Arcadia stands behind everything they sell so I am sure you can get a replacement.

I didn't see where you said the size of the exoterra dome fixture was... maybe I missed it...
But it better be the largest dome fixture.

Because the small dome fixture will concentrate the heat and that could be the root of your problem. Overheating and cutting out.

Cheers!
Todd
