Are Butterworms safe?

Are butterworms actually safe for a 4 month old Veiled chameleon? I had read in a post somewhere that a lot of chameleon keepers were shying away from butterworms due to allergic reaction. Is this true? If so, how can you tell?

I think they're safe, but it is true that a very small few have experienced problems. But tend to think that because it's so uncommon that it has to be like a peanut allergy, where yes peanuts are safe unless you're the unlucky few that swell up. I say allergy but it's not clear what is causing the reaction.

At any rate, the effects aren't fatal and not permanent. They seem to develop a black rash around the mouth that eventually goes away, apparently.

Awesome thank you so much! I was concerned and didn't want to order them unless I was relatively certain:) they were safe.

Kelly Rippa just chomped on a "cricket taco" live on TV. It came from a place in SOHO. Then they passed it around the audience. OMG to funny.

Butters not so much

My eight month old panther won't go near butterworms. She loves horned worms but had no time for butters.
