Are plastic plants ok??

Hi! I want to get some new/different plants for my veiled chameleon (George). He's been very sick but is on the road to recovery. At least he seems much better so I am tossing out his vines and getting new ones without leaves. The ones I have from pet store come with silk (or something similar) leaves on them. I clean them but I have read that I should not use these. So out they go. I have also read not to use plastic plants because chameleons may bite a peice off. The I read to get plastic plants. So Yes or No to plastic plants?? I can't do live plants because we have a real problem in this area with fruit flies (Or whatever those nasty little flying bugs are in plants). So, I'd really like to buy some plastic decorative type plants and ivy so it's easy to clean and he'll have plenty to climb on and explore once he's totally healthy again. Suggestions are welcome! :D Thank you!

Live plants are the best option over plastic/silk. Fly paper or sticky near the enclosure almost intitled eliminated the flys. I only saw them for a month or two after starting my enclosure. Good luck

Repot your new plants with organic dirt or that coco fiber stuff you can get at the pet store. Wash all the leafs with mild dish soap. I use dawn. I hqve never had flies in my enclosures and am pretty sure this is why.
