I am sorry if this question has been asked before but I can not find information on what type of schefflera plan't are safe. In my local garden centre (nutcutts) they had some nice size schefflera emeraled green's but i held off from buying one until i could find more information about them.

Are schefflera emeraled green's safe to use?

Phil

You want it to say Schefflera Aboricola(sp?). I have never heard them called "emerald greens" ...Yes they are green, but can come in other variegated colors(Yellow, Gold, Tan). As long as the scientific name matches, or closely matches my guess on spelling, then I'm sure you are safe. Look at the tag closer fo rthe scientific name to reference.

Emerald Schefflera is Schefflera actinophylla. I believe it is Toxic to animals. I am looking for more information and will update this when i find it.

Definitely stay away, here is the down-low

The Schefflera actinophylla (AKA - Octopus Tree, Queensland Umbrella Tree, and Emerald Green) has a similar appearance to the Schefflera arboricola. The Schefflera actinophylla (AKA - Octopus Tree, Queensland Umbrella Tree, and Emerald Green) has larger more firm leaves and grows to a taller tree if allowed.
This slim upright tree is made up of multiple trunks, each topped with a small crown of large showy leaves. The compound leaves form an umbrella shape rosette which gives the tree one of its common names. Ten to fifteen stalks of bright red flowers appear in summer and are followed by round dark berries.

It is considered toxic to chameleons.

That looks like a Aboricola to me...Those are safe. I use those in a few of my cages... They are my Fav!

:D I hope so, cause she really likes it....I don't think Panthers eat leaves anyway do they? I've never seen her try so far....

Is My Schefflera the safe one for chameleons??

Can someone please help me identify if this schefflera is the safe one, arboricola, or the dangerous one, actinopylla. I think it is safe but would appreciate more feedback. It would be great because it is tall, but I don't want to risk it with my new chameleon unless I'm sure. Thanks!

That looks like the schefflera actinopylla to me, man. I'm not real big on the plants as much as some of the other members, but those leaves look way different than my sheff.

that is a Pachira aquatica, i am guessing.
or commonly known as money tree plant.

I could not find any info about the safety of the plants.

Does it have to say "Queensland Unbrella Tree"? We bought a plant that says Umbrella Tree Schefflera and have it in the cage (well, we did, I have just taken it out for the mo).
