The foggers are ok for humidity, but the way the machine turns water to fog is said to cause liver and kidney problems for reptiles.

Where did you hear this and how exactly does it cause liver and kidney problems? Being prone to bacteria buildup from failure to properly clean them is a legitimate concern, but there is no evidence that ultrasonic foggers causes liver or kidney problems.

I have to agree with Chris here, the only way it could hurt you chameleon would be from the water you put into it. With poor water you could get lime, calcium, and salt build-ups they could easily ingest. If I recall they recommend distilled water to prevent this. The one advantage it does have is in the process of breaking the water down it also warms it up.

exo-teera fooger setup

hey guys all this info is great, but i've got the exo-terra ultrasonic fogger and and i have find a way to make it work for the time being. my current problem is containing the fog. i was using an open top plastic cup, but ive heard the plastic isnt good for the disks. it also uses alot of water fast, so i know ive got to get myself a timer..anybody have suggestions???

I use a reptifogger and a monsoon system for my chams. I must admit they work well, and if you don't recommend noisy systems you should try one out.

this is what i did...got it off amazon for like $40USD and it works way better...it has more umph and a larger resivoir

honeywell i think...theres a few brands out there that are exactly the same

this is my tokay gecko tank. im using coco fiber on top of bark with a false bottom underthat so that they substrate doesnt get to saturated...average humidity after 5 days of no misting or fogging stays around 80

ya, i cant get my humidity to stay at above 50% unless i constantly spay...or keep the fogger on

hey guys im getting a baby panther and i know they need high humidity and i was thinking of gettinga mister or a fogger since i go to school
im leaning towards
exo-terra monsoon
or a repti fogger since their cheaper
i might save up for a mist king if you guys say those two are terrible
what do u guys recommend outa the two or would you say mist king is worth the money compared to the other 2

I have the exo terra monsoon which I purchased refurbished from my local reptile store for half price since I do alot of business there and they gave me a great offer. That aside, the normal price for an exo terra monsoon is almost the same as a mistking basic or beginner system and it works great IMO. since it comes with a 2 gallon tank I was able to place an aquarium heater into it and I get a constant warm mist instead of a cold temp mist and my cham loves it. The monsoon comes with two mist heads and tubes so I can use one in each cage once I get my new baby jackson. The repti fogger is just that, it will produce a cool mist fog not a stream of water like the monsoon or the mistking produce. Check out amazon or ebay for lower prices in comparison to what you may find in your local pet store. hope this helps.

That's a great idea, I always think it's better to go with something that's quality considering ur trying to provide your reptile the best life psbl

And everyone is far to sensitive, exoterra monsoon and reptifogger are both products that can potentially kill your animal, nO questions asked there. So if you are utilizing those products u would not b a wise individual, I'm surprised ppl would phrase it any differently.

Try raising a reptile in nyc, I had to b creative with space considering u can pay $2000 a month for a small one bedroom studio, and taking ur pet outdoors is impossible, I've had to do alot of research and spend alot o time n money to keep his life quality, and it's worked great

any product can potentially kill any animal.

DO NOT EVER buy your chameleons both the monsoon or the repti fogger. The monsoon is having extreme problems and apparently it drowns juvenile chameleons as the misting nozzle breaks and turns into a jet stream. The timer on it maufunctions and it often will stay on for hours at a time and the water resevoir is prone to bacterial gorwth and leaking. The foggers are ok for humidity, but the way the machine turns water to fog is said to cause liver and kidney problems for reptiles. I have been using Mist Kings master system for 7 months now, it has a fine enough mist where it wont drown the babies, it keeps humidity up, and its drinkable. I would highly reccomend getting mistking 99 dollar setup, or if you plan to breed or get more, get the 200 dollar setup. If you dont have enough money for mist king, the habba mist is a nice, lower end misting system. I hope i helped.

im sorry but can you prove where it says that using an exo terra monsoon or zoo med reptifogger is said to cause live and kidney problems or are you just talking out of your rear end in reverance to mistking, no offence marty.
